Renaissance Now Theatre & Film, led by Kathy Curtiss, specializes in freely adapting Shakespearean plays with additions of dialogue in contemporary prose. This 'now speak' is used to highlight social issues, including political and moral themes, from the viewpoint of characters in the plays. The company will present 'Hamlet Speak,' adapted and directed by Ms. Curtiss, July 26 to 29 at The Chain Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, 4th floor.

Voted “Fan Favorite” (one of 12 out of 180+ productions so honored) at the New York International Fringe Festival, Being Seen, written and directed by Richard Gustin and starring WTTW’s former “Wild Chicago” host Will Clinger and Jeff Award Winner Kelly Anne Clark is making its Chicago premiere through July 2, in the Crosby Theatre at The Den Theatre, 1331 N. Boston-based and Mexican-born composer-percussionist Reynaliz Herrera, with her ensemble Ideas, Not Theories, release their debut album on June 30, 2023. Praised for her 'toe-tapping vibe' by the Boston Globe, Reynaliz's four-movement work BIKEncerto continues her exploration of the bicycle-as-instrument, now with the accompaniment of a chamber orchestra.

Present Tense Productions has announced that Timothy Nolan's THE SUGAR PLANT, directed by Saki Kawamura, will be part of the selected voices that make up this summer's Chain Theatre One Act Festival in the heart of midtown.
