Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced today the 2016/17 Season, the first to be curated by Artistic Director Anna D. Shapiro and the Steppenwolf artistic team. The new season brings many exciting changes that embrace expanded artistic offerings, flexibility and a diverse selection of experiences, featuring the ensemble in ways both familiar and new. In 2016/17, Steppenwolf will produce an expanded six-play Subscription Season, as opposed to the previous five-play season, in a new format that features four plays in the Downstairs Theatre with the opportunity for subscribers to choose between two productions in the Upstairs Theatre.

Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company will host a post-show discussion centered on the later work of Tennessee Williams following the March 5, 3pm performance of Tennessee Williams 1982. The Directors Company, in association with Pascal Productions, will present A BETTER PLACE, a new work by playwright Wendy Beckett (Anais Nin: One Of Her Lives, A Charity Case) and directed by Evan Bergman (Love Therapy), will play a limited six-week engagement this spring at The Duke on 42nd Street, a NEW 42ND STREET project (229 West 42nd Street, between 7th and 8th Avenues).

Playwrights Joshua Young and Phillip Christian along with director Lucia Bellini have formed The Playwriting Collective - a new production company aimed at raising up voices from lower class backgrounds. Specifically, The Collective is playwright driven, with a goal to finance and produce new works that support playwrights from poor economic environments and other marginalized communities.

Peter Friedman, Keilly McQuail, Naian Gonzalez Norvind, Robbie Collier Sublett, Joyce Van Patten and Mare Winningham are featured in the LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater world premiere of HER REQUIEM, by Greg Pierce, directed by Kate Whoriskey.
