American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Carey Perloff is thrilled to announce the appointment of Andy Donald as the company's new Associate Artistic Director. Andy will take on producing and presenting duties within the artistic department, as well as taking the lead in the commissioning and development of new work. Andy will begin his role as Associate Artistic Director on July 5, 2016.

? 4@15: Four New Fifteen-Minute Musicals, performed in conjunction with University of California, Irvine, will commence performances Saturday, April 16, Sunday, April 17, and Monday, April 18, for four performances only at the Royal Family Arts Centre.  Kristen Lee Rosenfeld serves as Music Director; Brian Blythe directs. 

The annual Playwrights for a Cause benefit will be Sunday, July 24th at 7:30 pm at the Atlantic Theatre (Linda Gross Theater), 336 West 20th Street, NYC 10011. The special performance will include six original plays. This year the playwrights for the benefit will include: Israel Horovitz, Dominique Morisseau, Antoinette Nwandu, John Patrick Shanley, Regina Taylor as well as an award-winning writer from the Planet Connections community that will be announced later.

George Street Playhouse presents Aaron Posner's MY NAME IS ASHER LEV, which runs tonight, April 12, through May 1 at the New Brunswick theatre. Miles G. Jackson (4000 Miles) will portray the titular Jewish artist Asher Lev, who must be a painter despite his faith and the will of his family.

The world premiere of DINNER AT HOME BETWEEN DEATHS, a pitch-black comedy by Andrea Lepcio (Looking for the Pony), directed by Stuart Ross (Forever Plaid) and presented by Indie Chi Productions, opens as a guest production at the Odyssey Theatre tonight, April 2.

The workshop of award-winning composer/lyricist/playwright/performer Max Vernon's new musical THE VIEW UPSTAIRS, directed by Scott Ebersold and with choreography by Spencer Liff and music direction by Matt Aument, will hold their industry presentations this week, starting today, March 31st, and continuing tomorrow, Friday, April 1st, in New York City.

PlayPenn, Philadelphia's nationally recognized professional new play development organization, will hold its 12th annual New Play Development Conference from July 5 - July 24 in Philadelphia at The Drake, a new home for new plays. The Conference, including three weeks of intensive work on six works-in-progress, will offer staged readings open to the public. The six selected plays and playwrights are:

Black Lab Theatre announced today that Crude, a new dark comedy by Jordan Jaffe, will play a strictly limited world premiere engagement at Theater 511 at Ars Nova (511 West 54th Street) for an Ars Nova Fling, as part of Black Lab Theatre's new play development program, 'The Pipeline."

Theresa Rose in FROM THE MIXED UP FILES OF MY BACKGROUND CHECK will play again at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre on March 24th at 7pm.

A slate of 4 vibrant and kinetic new LGBTQ+ plays and 1 musical have emerged as finalists in Pride Films and Plays' 2016 Great Gay Play and Musical Contest. They come from writers across the United States, and were selected by a reading team from across the country doing blind readings of the manuscripts. Those five scripts will be performed as Enhanced Staged Readings at the Center On Halsted's Hoover-Leppen, 3540 N Halsted, during Gay Play and Musical Weekend which is April 22 to 24, 2016.
