An American icon comes home.  During the early years of his career, American composer, conductor and arranger Henry Mancini and his family lived not far from where California State University, Northridge campus now stands.  On Saturday, October 13 at 8pm, Mancini's music comes home to Northridge as The Soraya presents Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini.  Starring Monica Mancini with special guest three-time Tony nominated Joshua Henry, Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini features Gregg Field as Music Director and Chris Walden conducting the New West Symphony.  

Keola Beamer is a Hawaiian legend who has stretched the boundaries of slack key guitar music while remaining true to its deeply Hawaiian roots. Jeff Peterson is a rising star who uses the style's open tunings to explore multiple genres with ease and flair. Joined by lovely dancer Moanalani Beamer, they present an evening of superb guitar that explores the range of Hawai'i's many cultural influences (as evidenced by their music in the film The Descendants, starring George Clooney). Continuing the momentum created with the current season launch of its Music Knows No Borders series, Executive Director Thor Steingraber unveils the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts' 2018-19 Season, which features four world premieres, two American premieres, several of the world's greatest orchestras, innovative jazz programs, two tributes to Hollywood legends, Broadway classics plus artists from 18 different nations who will appear on stage at The Soraya next season.  New Subscription Series tickets will go on sale May 1, 2018.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announces the highly acclaimed JAZZ ROOTS - A Larry Rosen Jazz Series to play in the Walt Disney Theater for the inaugural 2014-2015 season. The concert and educational Jazz series includes GEORGIA ON MY MIND: Celebrating Ray Charles, PINK PANTHER 50: Tribute to Henry Mancini, AN EVENING WITH CHRIS BOTTI and A NIGHT IN RIO.

Over the past ten years, Jim Caruso's Cast Party has become the ultimate spot for show folk to mix, mingle and entertain themselves and the people who love them. It helps that Birdland, it's home base, has been a world-class music room since 1949, that the sound, lights, food and staff are all top-notch, and that the entertainers that drop in are accompanied by world-class musicians. This past Monday night, the cast of "Real Housewives of New York" joined in on the Cast Party fun. Music was made, fun was had, and there was some vamping, camping and scamping, what with series regulars LuAnn de Lesseps, Mario and Ramona Singer, Heather Thompson, and Sonja Morgan in the house. Ann Hampton Callaway created a fabulous impromptu song for the cast of characters, and Monica Mancini thrilled the crowd with two of her dad Henry's biggest hits, ably accompanied by Shelly Berg on piano and Dave Koz on sax. Beloved regulars like Christine Lavin, Therese Curatolo, Gabrielle Stravelli, T. Oliver Reid, Andrew Nemr, Lodi Carr, Jon Victor Corpus and Nancy Harms performed their hearts out. Jessica Keenan Wynn, Annika, Shane Stevens, Tabitha Fair, Cole Burden and Katherine Alcorn made brilliant debuts. This year, Williams is joined by legendary actress Julie Andrews for a tribute to the legacy of director Blake Edwards and composer Henry Mancini. Monica Mancini joins the program to perform The Days of Wine and Roses.

Last night's star-studded event at the Geffen Playhouse and the pre-show host committee dinner at Los Angeles' The Backyard restaurant grossed over $1 million for the Geffen Playhouse's education, outreach and artistic initiatives. The fundraiser, honoring Hollywood legend Carol Burnett and Chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment Jim Gianopulos, was co-chaired by Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company Robert A. This summer, the Hollywood Bowl's Jazz at the Bowl series pays tribute to Ray Charles with a night dedicated to his distinct and versatile artistry.

For the first time, Jim Caruso's Cast Party, the extreme open mic, took to the high seas. The weekly event that has been running at Birdland for the past eight years was booked on the "Dave Koz & Friends" jazz cruise to Alaska, and Cast Party At Sea became the after-hours place to sing and be seen! Joining Caruso and musical director/accompanist Billy Stritch on the beautiful Rhapsody Of The Seas were jazz and R&B superstars Chris Botti, Jeffrey Osborne, Sheila E., Kirk Whalum, David Benoit, Jake Shimabukuro, Monica Mancini, Spencer Day, and the host-with-the-most, sax-man Dave Koz.

The iconic songs of George and Ira Gershwin are celebrated at the Hollywood Bowl with an all-star lineup of special guests including Jason Mraz, Monica Mancini, BeBe Winans, Nancy Wilson and St. Vincent. They will be joined by an All-Star Big Band and strings featuring the Shelly Berg Trio, Gordon Goodwin, Arturo Sandoval, Tom Scott, and more. Classic favorites such as 'Summertime,' 'Someone to Watch Over Me,' and 'They Can't Take That Away From Me' take on a new twist with pop and jazz interpretations.
