After a national search, the Alliance Theatre Board of Directors has named Tinashe Kajese-Bolden and Christopher Moses as Artistic Directors. 

Burning Bones Physical Theatre presents Malicious Compliance, directed by Frankie Mulinix.

The Paul Robeson Award will be bestowed on Dale R. Shields for 2021, Pearl Cleage for 2022 and The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City for 2023.

The Alliance Theatre begins performances tonight, September 2, for its season opener, EVERYBODY, by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award-winning playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.   Check out rehearsal photos here!

After 21 years as the Alliance Theatre’s Jennings Hertz Artistic Director, Susan V. Booth will leave her role at the Alliance to join Chicago’s Goodman Theatre as Artistic Director.  Booth will finish her tenure by co-directing the regional premiere of the acclaimed play, Everybody, which begins previews September 2.

After conducting a thorough national search, the Alliance Theatre is pleased to announce that Lawrence Bennett has been chosen as the new Director of Production for the Alliance Theatre, beginning July 19, 2021.  Bennett brings to his new role 15 years of production management and technical direction experience in a variety of company leadership positions.

Atlanta's nationally acclaimed Alliance Theatre celebrated its upcoming renovation with a special ground breaking last week on the Alliance Stage. Staff, Board Members, Donors and special guests donned hard hats as a large section of the stage wall toppled over, signifying the start to the theater's transformation. The Alliance Theatre announces today the appointment of Mike Schleifer to Managing Director. Schleifer has been serving the organization in the capacity of General Manager since March 2014, having arrived from a thirteen-year run at Baltimore's Center Stage. The promotion comes ahead of three transformative years for the Alliance as the organization embarks on an exciting renovation. 

The Alliance Theatre has released final design renderings of its theater transformation, which is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2017.  This is the first major building reinvention for the theater since its construction in 1968 as part of the Woodruff Arts Center campus, also home to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art. 

After conducting a thorough national search, the Alliance Theatre has announced that Mike Schleifer has been chosen as the new General Manager of the Alliance Theatre, beginning March 3, 2014. Schleifer steps into the position left vacant by Max Leventhal, who served the Alliance for 10 seasons before transitioning to the role of Owners' Representative to the Woodruff Arts Center in September, 2013. Schleifer brings to his new role 19 years of theatre management experience in a variety of company leadership and stage management positions.
