The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death. Ceremonies opened the door for new generation of African American playwrights, August Wilson among them. Emmy Award winner Glynn Turman (The Wire), Tony nominee Rocky Carroll (Navy NCIS) and John Cothran, Jr. (Black Snake Moan) are set to head the cast when L.A. Theatre Works records five performances of Ceremonies in Dark Old Men to air on its nationally-syndicated radio theater series, The Play's The Thing, which broadcasts weekly on public and satellite radio.
