On Saturday, August 18th  at 7pm, join Playhouse favorite Michael McDermott with pianist Nathaniel Baker at a free concert to raise awareness and funds for The Soft Foot Alliance. The evening will be filled with songs of hope and promise - from "Fields of Gold" to "Here Comes the Sun"; from Celtic culture and heritage through American folk traditions to new works.

After battling with addiction for nearly 20 years, Michael McDermott is 'Never Goin' Down Again'. Four years sober, McDermott has won a hard-fought battle with addiction and released his latest album, Out from Under. Michael McDermott's brand of rock n' roll brims with the kind of well-honed style and wisdom that can only come from a career on the road and a pedigree in the studio. Effortlessly blending natural folk sensibility, pop hooks, and honest rock, McDermott's music is as much for the outcast as the congregation. Oscar-award nominated actress Angela Bassett will host The Music Center's 30th Annual Spotlight Grand Finale Performance at The Music Center's Walt Disney Concert Hall on June 5, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. This landmark event will showcase the 14 outstanding Southern California high school students, ages 15-18, who were recently named Grand Prize Finalists and will celebrate three decades of the vital scholarship and arts training program that has helped launch the careers of many of today's most renowned artists. The event culminates a year-long process where more than 1,400 Southern California students participated in the program.

The Music Center named 14 outstanding Southern California high school students as Grand Prize Finalists in the 30th annual The Music Center's Spotlight program (Spotlight), a free nationally recognized scholarship and arts training program for teens.  Two Grand Prize Finalists were named in each of seven categories, including acting, ballet, non-classical dance, classical voice, non-classical voice, classical instrumental and jazz instrumental.  All finalists will receive $5,000 scholarships and appear in a ticketed Grand Finale Performance, open to the public, at The Music Center's Walt Disney Concert Hall on June 5, 2018, at 7:00 p.m.  Spotlight Grand Prize Finalists were chosen from more than 1,400 Southern California students who participated in the year-long program.  The Music Center has awarded more than

The Performance Garage announces its new residency program, the Dr. RJ Wallner DanceVisions Residency, and its inaugural awardee, Nora Gibson Contemporary Ballet. The program was designed by Executive Director Jeanne Ruddy in order to support a Philadelphia dance artist who exhibits exceptional talent. It provides the selected artist with rehearsal space, technical and marketing support, professional mentorship, and a performance venue in order to create and premiere new works. The inaugural year is supported by a generous gift from Dr. RJ Wallner.
