The Met has announced themed lineups for two weeks of its Nightly Met Opera Streams, the company’s ongoing series of encore Live in HD presentations and classic telecasts streamed on the its website during the coronavirus closure. The schedule includes a Myths and Legends week and a Love Triangles week.

Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced additional programs to add to the variety of offerings in its reimagined 2020/21 Season. These include a concert honoring Sir Andrew Davis; a new approach to the annual Rising Stars in Concert by The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center Ensemble and more.

Palm Beach Opera's first-ever outdoor festival concluded on Saturday, Feb. 27. The 10-day festival featured a star-studded cast of Metropolitan Opera Stars in live performances of “La bohème,” “Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute),” and “I Pagliacci” at the South Florida Fairgrounds' iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre.

Soprano Sonya Yoncheva will perform a live concert from the Schussenried Cloister in southwest Germany as part of the Met Stars Live in Concert series. The program features a tour-de-force of arias from Verdi’s Aida and Il Trovatore; Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, La Bohème, and the rarely performed Le Villi; Dvořák’s Rusalka; and Handel’s Rinaldo.

Ryan Opera Center Ensemble & more.

Bass baritone Ryan Speedo Green was named as a winner of the 2021 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Given in honor of the famed American soprano, this annual award is given to artists of exceptional ability with rising operatic careers at the Met.

The Greek National Opera has announced its 2021 lineup, a tribute programme to the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution of 1821, which is made possible by a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

Russian soprano Anna Netrebko will perform a live concert on Saturday, February 6, at 7:00pm CET/1:00pm ET, from the historic Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria, as part of the Met Stars Live in Concert series.

The schedule includes a week of Leading Ladies: Opera’s Greatest Heroines and an Antiheroes Week.

The 50th annual George London Foundation Competition for young American and Canadian opera singers, originally scheduled for February, has been rescheduled to take place in April 2021 in New York City in order to allow for greater ease of travel for the competitors.

Looks can be deceiving, as the New Year’s Eve edition of the Met’s “Live in Concert” series proved in abundance. But could even the talent of four wonderful singers--sopranos, Angel Blue and Pretty Yende and a matching pair of tenors, Javier Camarena and Matthew Polenzani-- breathe new life in a program filled with warhorses, from “Che gelida manina” from BOHEME to that Neopolitan classic, “O sole mio”? In a word: Yes.

Soprano Sondra Radvanovsky and tenor Piotr Beczała will perform a live concert on Saturday, January 23, at 7:00pm CET/1:00pm ET, from the historic Stadthalle in Wuppertal, Germany, as part of the Met Stars Live in Concert series.
