Happy New Year, BroadwayWorld! As we eagerly anticipate the amazing musicals and plays coming up in 2017, we're taking a moment to look back at the significant Broadway closings of 2016.

Feinstein's at the Nikko is proud to present beloved Broadway couple Audra McDonald and Will Swenson in a rare joint performance on Friday, January 27 at 8 p.m. at The Lesher Center for the Arts(1601 Civic Dr., Walnut Creek). The 25th Anniversary Special airs on CBS this Sunday, December 11 at 5 PM ET/ 2 PM PT, adjacent to NFL Football.

In the past year, Well-Strung have performed for the likes of President Barack Obama, Secretary Hillary Clinton, and at the Vatican, as well as alongside stars such as Kristin Chenoweth and Joe Jonas.

The first was the 1988 original film, the second was the 2002 Broadway musical, the third was its 2007 film adaptation, and then the 2016 live television production on NBC. As a Welcome to the 60's, let's go back to beginning to learn the history of the property itself.

Today's big news: A BRONX TALE: THE MUSICAL opens tonight on Broadway!

Four of Broadway's biggest names will come to Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for the second season of the "Broadway Up Close" series hosted by SiriusXM radio star Seth Rudetsky, the man The New York Times called the 'Mayor of Broadway.'  The series is produced by Mark Cortale and first up is Matthew Morrison, who has been nominated for a Tony Award for "Light in the Piazza" and Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for his starring role in the hit TV series "Glee" for one show only on Saturday, December 17 at 8:00 PM. Other stars appearing in the series this season will be Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award nominated superstar Vanessa Williams on Jan. 21, followed by Alice Ripley, Tony Award winner for "Next to Normal" on May 6, and last but not least, living legend and a two-time Tony winner Chita Rivera on June 3.

Hosted by Sirius XM Radio Star Seth Rudetsky whom the New York Times dubbed "The Mayor of Broadway," this unique series returns this winter to The Broward Center for the Performing Arts' Parker Playhouse with three new concert dates for the 2016-17 season produced by Mark Cortale. Kicking off the season is Broadway's Gavin Creel, Olivier Award Winning star "The Book of Mormon and star of "She Loves Me" performing on December 30 at 8:00 PM, immediately prior to his return to Broadway where he will co-star with Bette Midler in "Hello Dolly!." He is followed by Matthew Morrison, who has been nominated for a Tony Award for "Light in the Piazza" and Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for his starring role in the hit TV series "Glee" on February 17, 2017 at 8:00 PM, and comedy legend Andrea Martin, star of TV's SCTV and two-time Tony Award winner for the Broadway revival of "Pippin" and "My Favorite Year," on April 1, 2017 at 8:00 PM.

Producer Mark Cortale's acclaimed Broadway @ The Nourse concert series will return to San Francisco for the 2017 season. Kicking off the series will be Broadway star and two-time Tony winner for 'Grey Gardens' and '42nd Street' Christine Ebersole, on January 7, 2017 at 8:00 PM.

Tony-, Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated Broadway star Matthew Morrison joins pianist and host Seth Rudetsky in concert, for an evening of interview and song with intimate behind-the-scenes stories of life in show business at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Thursday, January 12th at 8PM.

On December 6 and 13 the foursome returns to New York with a "A Well-Strung Christmas" at Feinstein's / 54 Below.

The stars will continue to shine on New Orleans this season. Broadway's Gavin Creel, Olivier Award Winning star "The Book of Mormon and star of "She Loves Me" will perform on December 15, 2016 at 7:30 PM.  Creel will perform with Sirius XM Radio host Seth Rudetsky at the piano, prior to his return to Broadway where he will co-star with Bette Midler in the Broadway revival of "Hello Dolly!" 

The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC located at 1 Depot Square in Englewood NJ welcomes So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Tyce Diorio.

Just last night, the Actors Fund presented an evening of several short plays by actor/playwright, Wesley Taylor entitled, Proud of Us and Other Short Plays by Wesley Taylor. The benefit performance was presented for one night only at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). 

After a successful first season, The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts has announced the 2016-17 lineup for Broadway Up Close, hosted by Sirius XM Radio Star Seth Rudetsky. Formerly known as the Seth Rudetsky Broadway Concert Series, the Broadway Up Close concert series will consist of four performances featuring renowned actors from the stage and screen.

Houston's historic Lancaster Hotel will celebrate its 90th anniversary at the Houston Symphony Friday, November 11 with a pre-concert reception that includes an appearance by Houston Symphony Pops conductor Michael Krajewski, birthday cake and a nod to the evening's performance of George Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue' at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts.
