The Acting Company has announced the Actors’ Career Stability Initiative program for the 2022-23 season. With support from the Booth Ferris Foundation, all actors who accept a casting offer to join the 2022-23 national touring season and have a minimum of $10,000 in student loan debt will be eligible to apply for student loan debt relief.

Yale Repertory Theatre will conclude its 2022 season with Between Two Knees. The play, written by the intertribal sketch comedy troupe The 1491s and directed by Eric Ting, is presented with Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Jon Batiste has joined the cast of the upcoming musical film adaption of The Color Purple. Batiste will make his feature film acting debut in the film as Grady, a piano man and the husband of Shug Avery, played here by Taraji P. Henson. The 2022 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has been awarded to U.K. playwright Benedict Lombe for her debut play Lava. In a special presentation at Shakespeare's Globe in London, the Blackburn Prize judges presented Lombe with a cash prize of $25,000, and a signed limited-edition print by renowned artist Willem de Kooning, created especially for the Prize.
