After a barnstorming and sell-out world premiere run at Edinburgh Fringe 2022, the multi -award winning Manic Street Creature by Maimuna Memon (Standing at The Sky’s Edge, Electrolyte) makes its London debut at Southwark Playhouse Borough during October and November.

Marina Carr’s award-winning play returns to London directed by Carrie Cracknell and starring Conversations with Friends starlet Alison Oliver (who trod the same boards earlier this year in Women, Beware the Devil). A compelling analysis of toxic dysfunction and female pain, Portia Coughlan is a jarring family drama shackled by tragedy. It propels Oliver into theatre stardom. 

The Almeida Theatre has announced the full cast for Carrie Cracknell’s production of Marina Carr’s Portia Coughlan. 

Birmingham Hippodrome has announced that Deirdre O’Halloran will join the organisation as Head of New Musical Theatre. Deirdre will start her new role in October 2023.

Known for his colossal physique and consort of six unlucky wives, Henry Tudor has long stood as an example of the damage done by brutish men with excessive power. His reputation as a prolific abuser of women has inspired an array of assertive feminist theatre and this offering by Shakespeare's Globe is no exception.

During the month of August the award-winning, in-the-round auditorium will host three premieres from trailblazing playwrights Dipo Baruwa-Etti, Sami Ibrahim and Laura Lindow and the return of Chris Bush's critically acclaimed play HUNGRY which premiered at Roundabout last year.

Adam Gillen will play King Henry VIII, returning to the Globe stage following his acclaimed performance of Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet in 2021. Adam’s other theatre credits include Killer Joe (starring Orlando Bloom) in 2018 for which he was Olivier nominated for Best Supporting Actor, and the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of Amadeus, opposite Lucian Msamati.

Lockdown Theatre will present WELCOME TO IRAN on BBC Radio 3, at 7.30pm, on Sunday 11th April 2021. Ava (Maimuna Memon) is a twenty-something dual heritage, British Iranian. Following the death of her estranged Iranian father, she journeys to Iran in search of his past and to connect with her family.
