Stages Theatre Company has announced the cast and creative team for ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, JR. A journey of love and life, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, JR. tells the story of Ti Moune, a young girl with a big heart.

Today we celebrate Ragtime the Musical, which opened on Broadway on this day in 1998. 

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the tour of the Tony-winning revival of Once on This Island will launch at The Carson Center for Performing Arts in Paducah, KY on October 12, 2019, followed by its official opening in Nashville, TN at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) on October 15, 2019. Over 400 guests including current and past New York City high school students and their mentors who have participated in the TDF Wendy Wasserstein Project, the theatre arts mentoring program, (formerly called "Open Doors"), that TDF founded in 1998 with playwright Wendy Wasserstein, will attend this year's graduation ceremony at 5:30pm on Monday, June 3at The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College (524 West 59th Street, NYC). The graduation ceremony will open with a performance by Aisha Jackson who covers the role of Anna in Disney's Frozen.

With a very colorful set and equally colorful costumes, North Little Rock High School Theatre Arts Department presented SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL Friday March 1, through Sunday March 3, to well attended and entertained audiences both young and young at heart. Music and lyrics are by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Aherns, and based on characters by Dr. Seuss. The show was directed by Mike Noland, choreographed by Christen Pitts, with music direction by Lori Isner. As a fellow Dr. Seuss lover, I smiled through the whole performance, and they get extra bonus points for including a live orchestra.

On this day in 1998, the original Broadway production starring Audra McDonald, Marin Mazzie, and Brian Stokes Mitchell opened at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts.

Love Loss and What I Wore by Nora Ephron and Deliah Ephron is returning to Good Theater for 12 performances starting January 19 and continuing through February 9.  This production was a huge hit last winter for Good Theater, the professional company in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland.  Love Loss and What I Wore runs in and around Good Theater's main stage production of An Act of God by David Javerbaum.

This holiday season, City Theater in Biddeford will present the holiday masterpiece A Christmas Carol the musical written by Tony Award winners Alan Menken and Lynn Aherns. This thrilling musical adaptation of Dickens' classic tale by the same creators as Beauty and the Beast and Sister Act reawakens the true spirit of Christmas with a heart-stirring tale of beauty and redemption. A Christmas Carol is playing at City Theater in Biddeford from November 30th through December 16th.

Take the journey! The North American tour of the critically-acclaimed Broadway production of ANASTASIA will launch at Proctors in Schenectady, NY on October 9, 2018 and will go on to play 30 cities in its first season. This production features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, a lush, new score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and direction by Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak.

Good Theater is celebrating its 17th season with the company's biggest season ever.  The professional company in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland, begins with the Tony Award winning The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, based on the best-selling novel of the same name, by Mark Haddon and adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens.   The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time makes its Portland premiere on October 3, running four weeks through October 28.
