New York cabaret is back and in many ways, it is better than ever. We can take pride in a community that is stronger, more supportive, and more diverse than it has ever been. There is, of course, much to do still, but we are on a path that may lead us toward a second “golden age” of New York cabaret that could rival the 1980s. The signs are all around us. Not only have most of our cabaret rooms survived the pandemic, but we have also seen the birth of new spaces this year. There is more crossover between Broadway and cabaret than we have seen in decades, and thanks to social media, there are more new artists on the scene as well. Even with all the pandemic woes, as Jerry Herman would say “the best of times is now. As for tomorrow, well, who knows…who knows…who knows?”

Grammy nominated Comedian turned Life Coach Lisa Lampanelli comes to Bucks County Playhouse for two performances only, March 13 at 2pm and 8 pm, with an all new show, “Losin' It!”  The performances will be held on the Playhouse stage for an extremely limited, socially distanced audience. Lampanelli appears at the Playhouse as part of the Visiting Artists Series.

Fairfield Center Stage, a community theater group, begins its second season of the online variety show, FAIRFIELD CENTER COUCH, with a holiday variety special, FAIRFIELD CENTER COUCH HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA! This performance will be broadcast on Facebook Live and also be made available on YouTube after the performance.

Fairfield Center Stage, a local community theater group, will present an outdoor, socially-distanced ABBA-themed concert on the back lawn of The Scandinavian Club on Saturday, October 24th 2020 at 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

The Golden Gays NYC have taken their act online in a successful 13-week run of shows and this week Broadway World found out why they are called The premiere Golden Girls drag show in the country.

Texas Performing Arts Executive Director Bob Bursey announced today that all Texas Performing Arts performances will be suspended for the next six weeks, through April 25.  This extends and expands the previously announced postponement of events in Bass Concert Hall through March 30th, including the postponement of the remainder of the scheduled Broadway in Austin performances of Disney's Aladdin.

Looking in the mirror can be hard.  At times we see the best side of us. At other times we see the worst.  One of the things we look at is our weight. We are either too skinny or too fat. It's time that we quit using labels do define who we are.  This is a challenge given to the audience who attend 'Lisa Lampanelli's Losin' It,' which is currently playing at the Temple Theatre as part of Des Moines Performing Arts and Prairie Meadows Temple Comedy Series. If you haven't been to this production yet, which opened on February 4, then you need to get your tickets ASAP.

Acclaimed singer and actress Erin Leddy (Ghostlight the musical; Anything Goes; The Great Gatsby) and multiple award-winning performer of stage and screen Tim Realbuto (who recently won The Hollywood Moving Image Award for Best Leading Actor for the motion picture YES) will bring their new concert From Broadway With Love to The Laurie Beechman Theatre at the West Bank Cafe on West 42d Street, right in the heart of midtown. The concert will take place at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 13th, just in time for Valentine's Day. The two best friends are teaming up again after a very successful concert called Crossroads that they performed in 2018 at The Green Room 42.
