Texas Performing Arts Suspends All Performances Through April 25

Texas Performing Arts Executive Director Bob Bursey announced today that all Texas Performing Arts performances will be suspended for the next six weeks, through April 25. This extends and expands the previously announced postponement of events in Bass Concert Hall through March 30th, including the postponement of the remainder of the scheduled Broadway in Austin performances of Disney's Aladdin.

Suspended performances are as follows:

Lisa Lampanelli's Losin' It! on Mar 26-27, 2020 (cancelled)

MOMIX Viva MOMIX on Apr 3, 2020 (cancelled)

The University of Texas Jazz Orchestra with Dave Douglas on Apr 18, 2020 (cancelled)

Bella Gaia: Beautiful Earth on Apr 22, 2020 (cancelled)

Bert Kreischer on Apr 25, 2020 (rescheduled to September 26, 2020)

Ticketholders will be contacted directly regarding details of cancellations and postponements.

"Consistent with so many of our peer organizations, we recognize that it is imperative to encourage social distancing in order slow the spread of coronavirus," said Bob Bursey when announcing the decision. "The health and safety of our staff, artists, and audiences is our first priority and we take seriously the responsibility our community has vested in us to provide a safe gathering place for all."

Additional decisions will be announced as needed in response to this evolving situation. COVID-19 updates and guidance from the University of Texas at Austin can be found at https://www.utexas.edu/coronavirus.

Texas Performing Arts is the performing arts presenting program of The University of Texas at Austin and operates campus venues including Bass Concert Hall and McCullough Theater. It is the home of the Lexus Broadway in Austin series, which is currently scheduled to continue May 5-10, 2020 with an engagement of A Bronx Tale. In calendar year 2019 Bass Concert Hall had the highest number of admissions of any theater in Austin, was #2 of its size in the State of Texas and #22 in the world, according to industry publication Pollstar.
