The Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition continues to spotlight the best emerging playwrights with a full production for the competition winner and staged readings for four competition finalists. Sheltered, the 14th competition winner, is the story of one American couple's harrowing decision to rescue 50 Jewish children from Europe during WWII. Sheltered is written by Alix Sobler who recently earned her MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. During the Alliance's season-long renovation, Sheltered will be staged at Actor's Express, March 1 - 25, 2018.

Earlier this week, one of the theatre community's most beloved podcasts, 'The Hamilcast' celebrated two years of episodes. En route to becoming 'the official unofficial podcast of HAMILTON,' the show's creator, host, and producer Gillian Pensavalle has released more than 100 episodes, which include conversations with many of the show's performers and creators, in-depth discussions of the Ron Chernow biography that inspired the musical, and an epic, four-part October sit-down with creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, appropriately dubbed #Lintoberfest.

Playwright Neeley Gossett (Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition finalist) and Actor/Playwright Steve Coulter (Edward Foote) have teamed up with Alliance Theatre Artistic Director of Theatre for Youth and Families Rosemary Newcott to develop this year's new play for middle school audiences Alice Between. Alice Between will tour to Atlanta area middle schools for several weeks and will have five public performances in the Rich Theatre at the Woodruff Arts Center, November 12 19, 2017. The opening performance is Saturday, November 12, at 5:00 p.m.
