American Conservatory Theater Announces Recipients of ArtShare for 2017–18 Season

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Associate Artistic Director Andy Donald announced today the recipients of ArtShare, A.C.T.'s community space-sharing initiative, for the 2017-18 season. Created in 2012, the community space-sharing initiative provides free performance space for small and mid-sized companies without permanent performance space, as well as for independent artists, who would benefit from being in residence at one of A.C.T.'s spaces in the Central Market area. These spaces include The Costume Shop (1117 Market St.)-A.C.T.'s 49-seat black-box venue-and The Rueff, a multi-use event and performance space located at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater (1127 Market St.). The 2017-18 season of ArtShare is made possible by generous support from the Kenneth Rainin Foundation and the Zellerbach Family Foundation.
Perseverance Theatre Names Five Playwrights to The Writer's Circle

Perseverance Theatre has announced the formation of The Writer's Circle. Perseverance Theatre has awarded participation into The Writer's Circle to five playwrights. The award includes commission, including development support, for a two-year period of time to write and develop a new Alaskan play.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre is proud to congratulate What Would Crazy Horse Do? Director, Sam Pinkleton on his Tony Award Nomination Best Choreography for his work on this season's Broadway hit musical Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, which led the field with 12 nominations, including Best Musical. Pinkleton previously choreographed KCRep's 2015 acclaimed production of Hair: Retrospection.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 2016-17 season with an exciting addition to the ORIGINKC NEW WORKS FESTIVAL in the spring of 2017. Playwright Christopher Chen breathes new life into the classic tragedy by William Shakespeare as commissioned by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Play On! program in which playwrights translate the bard into contemporary English. KC Rep and UMKC's department of theatre team up to support a developmental production of this new play.
