A.R.T./New York Announces Fourth and Final Year of Funding for The New York Theater Program

The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York announced that the Mellon Foundation has awarded the organization a fourth and final year of funding to administer the New York Theater Program, which will be distributed to the program’s current grantees in July 2022, extending the current grant cycle through June 30, 2023.

For Memorial Day Weekend 2022, artist, writer and activist John Sims will present AfroDixia: Journey To Justice in Austin, Texas. This multimedia happening is a part of a 20-year project that engages Confederate iconography, cultural politics of white supremacy and transformative healing, featuring the artist’s 7th annual Burn and Bury performance, film screening and Afro-Dixie Remixes. This series of events will be hosted by Austin Film Society, DadaLab and Red Salmon Arts/Resistencia Books, and co-sponsored by the Austin Justice Coalition and Six Square.

Bergen County Players will present the uplifting, toe-tapping, joyous classic rock musical GODSPELL, opening on March 19. Under the direction of Lynne Lupfer, this musical sensation, the first offering from internationally acclaimed composer Stephen Schwartz, continues to touch audiences around the world with its vibrant rock score and messages of kindness, tolerance and love. Performances will take place at the Little Firehouse Theatre, 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell, March 19 thru Palm Sunday, April 10 (Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm, and Sunday afternoons at 2pm).

Prototype Postpones Tenth Anniversary Festival Due To Surge In COVID Cases

Today, the directors of the PROTOTYPE Festival, alongside partners St. Ann's Warehouse, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, and Abrons Arts Center, announced the difficult decision to postpone this year's tenth anniversary festival to January of 2023, due to the current surge in COVID cases and the resulting safety risks, as well as logistical challenges including artist and staff illnesses, travel complications, and more. The Festival was scheduled to run January 7-16, 2022.
