Creative Cauldron Presents PASSPORT TO THE WORLD OF MUSIC Live Streaming Series

Creative Cauldron presents a musical tour of the world in its intimate cabaret space turned high-def live stream studio, with a diverse musical line up specially curated by Ken Avis and Lynn Veronneau of the Wammie Award-winning jazz samba group Veronneau and Resident Artist Matt Conner. The series features blues, jazz, Latin, fusion, bluegrass, Broadway and folk from around the world.

As the world continues to adjust to a new normal in the midst of the global pandemic, renowned Brooklyn-based organization 651 ARTS today announced a major step forward in reimagining its programmatic strategy to ensure that the institution will thrive in a post-pandemic arts and culture space with the appointment of Monica L. Williams in the new role of Director of Programs and Chief Curator (DPCC).  Additionally, the institution also announced the expansion of its Board of Directors welcoming new members Claude Johnson, Bahia Ramos and Lisa Suino. 

Isle Of Shoals Launches The Lance Series

Isle of Shoals Productions, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit theatre company, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary with THE LANCE SERIES. The Series is named in honor of the late Lance Hewett, Founding Artistic Director and Guiding Light of IOS for 19 memorable years, and will consist of staged readings of 5 wildly diverse new plays, chosen from nearly a hundred submitted in a nationwide search.

14th Annual MFA Playwrights Workshop Launches New Work Next Week In Washington D.C.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, in association with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and Stanford University's National Center for New Plays, announce the 14th Annual MFA Playwrights' Workshop. The Kennedy Center will host more than 60 theater-makers from July 27-August 4, 2019 as part of the week-long Workshop featuring new works by graduate students or recent MFA graduates from the University of California, San Diego, Iowa Playwrights' Workshop, Boston University, National Theatre School of Canada, and Brown University. 

New Repertory Theatre To Present LADY DAY AT EMERSON'S BAR & GRILL

New Repertory Theatre is excited to announce that Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill will join their 2019-2020 MainStage season. The production runs March 28 ? April 19, 2020 in the MainStage Theater at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA. Tickets to Lady Day may currently be purchased as part of a 2019-2020 subscription package by calling the New Rep Box Office at 617-923-8487 or visiting newrep.org. Single tickets will be available for sale on August 1. Lady Day will replace the previously announced Piaf.

BWW Review: OPENING NIGHT AT BOSTON POPS WITH BERNADETTE PETERS

Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Orchestra opened the 134th Spring Pops season with a 50th anniversary tribute to the watershed events of the summer of 1969, two stunning short films, a homegrown astronaut, and a celestial Broadway legend. Commencing with the 'Opening Fanfare' from Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra (the theme used in '2001: A Space Odyssey'), and concluding with the Pops' signature song, John Philip Sousa's 'The Stars and Stripes Forever,' the two selections bookended the program that took us to the moon, to the past, and to the Great White Way.

BWW Review: SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY: Light Privilege

SpeakEasy Stage Company presents the New England premiere of the 2018 Lucille Lortel Award-winner for Outstanding Play (tie), Jocelyn Bioh's SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MAN GIRLS PLAY, directed by Summer L. Williams. A Ghanaian-American playwright, Bioh sets the play in 1986 at a top boarding school in Ghana. The action centers on self-anointed queen bee Paulina (Ireon Roach) who aspires to win the Miss Ghana Beauty Pageant in order to represent her country in the coveted Miss Global Universe Pageant. When Headmistress Francis (Crystin Gilmore) introduces Ericka (Victoria Byrd), a new student from Ohio, just before the audition, Paulina is unexpectedly faced with a formidable challenger, not just for the competition, but also for the attentions and loyalty of her crew.
