As the release of his third studio recording, 'Things that Come and Go' approaches, we sat down with Hadley Fraser to discuss music, his influences, what he listens to, and what music means to him.

The press release on this coupling promised “an evening of unparalleled artistry,” a very lofty intention indeed. But after a few numbers I tend to agree whole-heartedly – these two critically-acclaimed musicians put on a master class that at moments, took my breath away.

KURT ELLING is at Birdland through January 11 (two shows a night). The veteran singer and frequent Grammy nominee (two-time winner) who tops jazz polls is still top-drawer.

Multi-grammy award-winning vocalist Kurt Elling has released a video for his rendition of Fred Hersch and Norma Winstone’s “A Wish (Valentine),” featuring Cécile McLorin Salvant. The song is taken from Wildflowers, Vol. 1, a brand new, spur-of-the-moment album spontaneously created with pianist Sullivan Fortner.
