A Red Orchid Theatre announces its 29th Season, kicking off the with the Chicago Premiere of The Moors by Jen Silverman, directed by Artistic Director and Ensemble Member Kirsten Fitzgerald and followed by the world premiere of Last Hermanos by Exal Iraheta.

On Saturday, June 12th at 8:00pm CST, Play-PerView will present Dianne Nora's Ruth Bader Ginsburg: A Living Document in collaboration with Chicago's A Red Orchid Theatre. The production will stream through June 16, 2021.

This multi-disciplinary art piece inspired by the geographical area of southern Illinois called American Bottom begins life here as an experimental audio fiction, written in verse, performed by a full cast, and featuring original music and illustrations.  Kevin disappeared in rural Illinois near the site of the Cahokia Mounds. American Bottom follows the thoughts of the people who knew him; unearthing the many layers of life and story connected to the place he called home.

On Saturday, May 22nd at 7:00pm EST, Play-PerView will live stream AYA or Dear Lover by Fernanda Coppel (King Liz, “How To Get Away With Murder”).  Directed by Estefania Fadul, this production will feature Raul Castillo (“Looking,” “Atypical”), Tina Huang (“Rizzoli & Isles,” “Arrow”), and Roxana Ortega (“The Casagrandes,” “American Vandal”). 

A Red Orchid Theatre will present Last Hermanos – an audio translation of a play in progress, written by Exal Iraheta and directed by Melanie Queponds. Last Hermanos runs April 23-May 16, 2021.

Off-Broadway's 59e59 Theaters, Chicago's A Red Orchid Theatre, Kansas City's Oddly Correct Coffee and Wesley Stace's Cabinet of Wonders will join forces to co-present a virtual Off-Broadway transfer for Missed Connections, following its recent Chicago premiere presentation.

The Root Ball will celebrate more than 25 years of fearless theatre-making while flashing back into 1960s. The 2020 Root Ball: Revisiting 1967 Old Town will be held on Thursday, March 5 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at Galleria Marchetti, 825 W. Erie in Chicago.

Vanessa Stalling returns to the Goodman to direct the 15-member cast, including emblematic characters of plaintiff Norma McCorvey (a?oeJane Roea??) and Sarah Weddington, the young Texan lawyer who argued the case.

Eleven world premiere plays and musicals seen first by Chicago audiences were among those receiving nominations by the Jeff Awards, announced today. A total of 192 nominations were made in 34 categories that honor Chicago Equity theatrical productions that opened between August 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019. During the 2018-19 season, Jeff Awards judges attended opening nights of 132 Equity productions offered by 43 producing organizations and from these openings, 112 productions were a?oeJeff Recommendeda?? and eligible for award nominations.
