On Monday, February 15, the Broadway at Birdland concert series was thrilled to present a reunion concert of the 2012 Nashville production of THE NUTTY PROFESSOR, a musical written by Rupert Holmes and the late, great Marvin Hamlisch, and directed by Jerry Lewis. The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Broadway/cabaret star T. Oliver Reid in his Birdland concert debut on Monday, February 8, with DROP ME OFF IN HARLEM. A portion of proceeds went to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. BroadwayWorld has photos from the concert below!

In a regular Birdland event called 'This Is Cabaret,' award-winning singer and radio host Ann Hampton Callaway recasts cabaret as an emotionally engaging experience rather than a place.  Callaway celebrates intimate performances and heartfelt songs from a variety of genres: jazz, Broadway, folk, singer-songwriter, the blues, and more!  Musical guests give intimate performances and share personal insights, live from the legendary stage in New York City. On Sunday, Ann's guests were singer/actress/director/teacher and cabaret icon Marilyn Maye and the Grammy-nominated, hard-swinging jazz singer Kurt Elling.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Broadway and television actress Linda Lavin for two very special concerts on the historic stage this past week. The show, wryly entitled 'My First Farewell Concert,' is Lavin's personal story told in songs she loves. She performed favorites from the Great American/Brazilian/Yiddish Songbooks, with Billy Stritch at the piano, Steve Bakunas on drums, Ron Affif on guitar, Tom Hubbard on bass, and special guest Aaron Weinstein on violin. Songs included were 'You've Got Possibilities,' 'No More Blues,' and a medley of songs recorded by the late, great Bobby Short. Scroll down for photos from the concert!

After BroadwayWorld launched its New York Cabaret Awards in 2012, the cabaret section's editors realized that the selected categories and the popular vote nature of the election didn't adequately recognize some great performances and shows for that particular year. So in 2013, BWW added "Editor's Choice Awards" to the mix to not only reward special performances but also to acknowledge people who have helped grow cabaret and foster the spirit of the art form. This year, BWW New York Cabaret Editor Stephen Hanks and his reviewing staff-including Alix Cohen, David Clarke, Billie Roe, Rembert Block, and John Hoglund-selected seven stars of cabaret for this special honor. Now that the Awards for 2015 performances and shows are official, we wanted to tell you a bit about this year's "Editor's Choice Award" winners and offer them a chance to thank the New York cabaret community. Congratulations to all these worthy Award recipients.

MERMAN'S APPRENTICE, starring Klea Blackhurst, Anita Gillette, Fred Applegate, Elizabeth Teeter and more, will play Birdland tonight, January 18, 2016.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present NY1 theater journalist Frank DiLella in the second episode of his new talk show, 'Show Biz After Hours With Frank DiLella.' The event was taped in front of a sold-out audience on Monday, January 11, with Frank's very special guest Jonathan Groff, who is currently starring on Broadway as King George in the smash hit HAMILTON. Frank had several guests on hand to surprise Groff, including friends Tituss Burgess, Alyse Alan Louis, Jenni Barber, and his 'Looking' co-star Russell Tovey. The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present stage and screen star Erich Bergen ('Madam Secretary,' 'Jersey Boys'), who joined forces with American jazz pianist Angelo Di Loreto in concert on Sunday and Monday, December 27 and 28. Bergen, Di Loreto and bassist Ethan O'Reilly performed an intimate evening of songs from the Great American Songbook, as well as some classics of 20th Century pop music. On Monday, December 20, Birdland regulars Klea Blackhurst, Billy Stritch and Jim Caruso premiered the sixth season of their yearly SWINGING BIRDLAND CHRISTMAS run to a packed house at the historic music room. Scroll down for photos!

On Sunday, December 13, the Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Broadway star and concert singer Daniel Reichard in his new holiday show, UNDER THE MISTLETOE!. He will return to the historic stage on Sunday, December 20, with a show at 6pm. The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Broadway's own Phantom, James Barbour, who performed his eighth sold-out holiday concert at Birdland on Sunday. Barbour hosted a musical extravaganza that included cast members from Phantom of the Opera, including Julia Udine, Jeremy Hays, Laird Mackintosh and Jeremy Stolle, with Brian Taylor on piano. On Sunday, the Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present songwriter Jonathan Reid Gealt, who celebrated the release of his new cd, "Whatever I Want It To Be," with a concert at the historic music room starring a bevy of Broadway stars. On Monday night, the Broadway at Birdland concert series kicked off a four-night run starring Tony Award-winning actress/singer Christine Ebersole and Grammy Award-winning composer/pianist/singer Billy Stritch in OUR FAVORITE THINGS.
