But that's not what made the evening extra-special. You see, Anita had a real-life friendship with the composer. It all started during the creation of a Broadway show called Mr. President, written by Berlin, and starring Gillette.

Constantine Maroulis is a world-renowned actor, producer, singer and songwriter best known for his Tony-nominated performance in Rock of Ages and his epic run as a finalist during the heyday of 'American Idol.' At his first Birdland solo outing, he performed an intimate evening of originals, Broadway favorites and stripped-down rock & roll classics like you've never heard them before. Joshua Stephen Kartes was musical director of the concert.

A veteran of numerous performances at the club, this was her 3rd incarnation of the tribute show in the venue. The evening kicked off with "Beautiful Day" followed immediately by celebrating with "New York".
