The Theatre World Awards Board of Directors has announced two of the individuals to be honored at 78th Annual Theatre World Awards to be held on Monday evening, June 10, 2024 beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The intimate cabaret space at 54 Below was transformed into Berlin’s Grand Hotel on Monday night. The kick-off performance of GRAND HOTEL: THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST REUNION CONCERT on February 26th was exuberant, with much of the star-studded original cast reviving their roles.

Next week, 54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club and 2022 Tony Awards Honoree for Excellence in the Theatre, will present some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and beyond. 54 Below celebrates Broadway musicals and writers of the past and present, promoting an ongoing engagement with their work. Learn more about the performances here!

YELLOW SOUND LABEL will release Sondheim Unplugged: The NYC Sessions – Volume Three, the final installment of the monumental three-volume set dedicated to the oeuvre of iconic musical theater composer Stephen Sondheim. The third edition will be available on Friday, November 18 in streaming and digital formats, in addition to a 2-disc CD.

The new musical PERFECT WORLD will get an invite-only, industry presentation on October 27 & 28. It features book and lyrics by Alan Edmunds, music & lyrics by Richard Winzeler, and will be directed by Karen Carpenter with music director & vocal arrangements by Laura Bergquist and choreography by Alexandra Beller.

Sondheim Unplugged will celebrate its 100th performances as series creator passes the torch to a new host.

The last time Mainers got to enjoy the work of actor Matt Gibson was last summer when he starred in Maine State Music Theatre’s Hello, Dolly! as Cornelius Hackl. The New York based actor with a string of Broadway and off-Broadway credits has spent the last year, writing and acting in film and sweeping the Film Festival circuit awards for DOGMATE, a short that Gibson has written and in which he stars together with Ken Jennings, Cadden Jones, and Monica L. Jones. The short, produced by Patrick Bishop of Bishops Gate Entertainment and co-directed by Mollie Vogt-Welch and Amanda Thickpenny has received thirteen honors at nine festivals so far, including three wins and one nomination for “Best Comedic Short,” one win and two nominations for “Best Acting Ensemble,” two nominations for “Best Actor “ for Gibson and one win and two nominations for “Best Supporting Actress” for Cadden Jones. DOGMATE, which has received a non-exclusive distribution deal, makes its next debut at The Cutting Room International Short Film Festival on December 5-6, 2020.
