One of Charlottesville's premier theatres is presenting the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama with a strong cast of leading players and impeccably directed by William Rough. An all-volunteer organization, LiveArts has a strong reputation in Central Virginia and this production is proof enough that community theatre can move an audience and illuminate a famous play with pathos and fine acting.

Bill Connington, star of the award-winning film ZOMBIE, based on the novella by Joyce Carol Oates, appeared at the Slaughter in Syracuse independent underground horror festival in Syracuse, New York, July 9 - 10. This is the 20th film festival for the film which has been called 'Shocking . . . a chilling one-man study of perversity' by the New York Times, and 'The most realistic, tension driven and terrifying short film ever'  by the Horror Happens Radio Show.

Marvellous by Matt Minnicino, directed by Elizabeth Nearing, will have its world premiere at The Theater at the 14th St Y (located at 344 E 14th St) as a part of the NYC International Fringe Festival this summer. Joining them were Gayton Scott (Gypsy), Brian Charles Rooney (Threepenny Opera), Annmarie Benedict (Robeson) and Michael Keyloun (Tartuffe). The staged reading was site-specific, and was performed in the white and gold gilded ballroom of a private Eastside club. The evening was produced by Razors Edge Productions. Broadway stars Barbara Walsh (Company) and Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Avenue Q) join Bill Connington, the star of ZOMBIE, in performing in a benefit reading of Oscar Wilde's classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest ("A Trivial Comedy for Serious People"). Also in the cast are William Connell (The Coast of Utopia), Vivienne Cleary (Peace Warriors), Annmarie Benedict (Robeson), D.H. Johnson (Dodsworth), and Oliver Houser (Spring Awakening, Virginia Rep).

Bill Connington, star of the award-winning play ZOMBIE, and Gayton Scott, of Broadway's GYPSY (Bernadette Peters/Sam Mendes version) appeared in a special site-specific reading/workshop of THE GLASS MENAGERIE by Tennessee Williams at Vassar College in upstate New York. It took place in the Rose Parlor, in the main building on the famed Seven Sisters campus. Also in the cast are William Connell (INDISCRETIONS) and Annmarie Benedict (ROBESON). ZOMBIE, the film based on Joyce Carol Oates' award-winning novella, continues on a roll. After winning 'Best Short Film (Horror)' at the Washington DC International Film Festival, the psychological horror film has won 'Best Short Dramatic Screenplay' for Bill Connington, and 'Best Supporting Actor' for Kelley Van Dilla. The psychological thriller was also nominated for 'Best Actor,' 'Best Director,' and 'Best Short Dramatic Film' at the Terror Film Festival, which was held on prestigious Rittenhouse Square in central Philadelphia.
