Reviewer Mark Lowry said of Uptown's presentation of Part One, Angels In America, Millenium Approaches with actress Emily Scott Banks as the Angel hovering above the bed of the ailing Prior, played by Garret Storms, that it "always feels like extended exposition for the second part, Perestroika". Uptown will present Part Two Angels in America, Perestroika as a special event to kick-off Gay History Month this fall. Angels in America received a record 11 nominations at the 72nd annual Tony Awards this month, winning three awards, including Best Revival of a Play.

The Wells Fargo Wagon is a-coming down the street and, from July 25th-August 19th, it'll be parked onstage of Farmers Branch's The Firehouse Theatre in their upcoming production of THE MUSIC MAN. Directed by Bruce Coleman, with music direction by Bryce Biffle and choreography by Bethany Lortenzen, the classic musical is sure to be a hot ticket.

Second Thought Theatre's 2018 season continues this June with the world premiere of Enemies/People by Dallas-based playwright and artist Blake Hackler. Making her Second Thought directorial debut is Kara-Lynn Vaeni, a theatre and opera director and educator at Southern Methodist University. Second Thought Artistic Director Alex Organ returns to the STT stage for the first time since The Great God Pan in 2016 to star as Tom Stockmann. Loosely adapted from Henrik Ibsen's An Enemy of the People, the play is "a timely world-premiere about the search for truth in the age of alternative facts." Enemies/People begins with previews on Wednesday, June 13 and runs through Saturday, July 7. Uptown Players presents its 16th annual fundraiser Broadway Our Way '18, written and directed by B.J. Cleveland running June 14 - June 17, 2018 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. Cleveland has heard members of the LGBT community claim they had never been represented on stage for many decades and this evening is about fun and providing a previously unheard voice and seeing the world as we always wish it could be.

Aaron Loeb's new play The Trials of Sam Houston directed by Kevin Moriarty seeks to rediscover the narrative of one of this period's most notorious figures.

Uptown Players and director Cheryl Denson have cast an array of celebrity divas to star in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, running July 13-July 29, 2018. Jack Donahue and Blake McIver enthusiastically come to Dallas to make their Uptown debut, leading the cast alongside Dallasites Dana Harper and Kelly Groves, bringing a wide array of illustrious performance experience to the Kalita Humphreys Theater this summer.

Second Thought Theatre continues its 2018 season by reuniting Jenny Ledel and Drew Wall for the area premiere of Empathitrax by Ana Nogueira. Wall and Ledel previously starred opposite each other in Second Thought's 2015 hit Belleville by Amy Herzog. Carson McCain returns to direct after previously directing The Great God Pan (2016) and assistant directing Belleville and Booth. This year she directs "a compassionate, humorous, and unflinchingly honest portrait of a relationship that dares to test the limits of intimacy." Empathitrax begins with previews on Wednesday, April 4 and runs through Saturday, April 28. Nick Dear's Frankenstein, presented by Dallas Theater Center in association with the Theatre Division of the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, revisits the classic story with a gritty, humanistic twist. Helmed by director Joel Ferrell, Frankenstein lurks at the Kalita Humphreys Theater with a menacing, if not slightly gapped retelling.

Laura Colleluori makes her STT directorial debut after previously serving as assistant director and dramaturg for Grounded (2017) and A Kid Like Jake (2016). This year she directs a work of total fiction about a woman named Hillary who is trying to become the president of a country called the United States of America in an alternate universe light years away. Hillary and Clinton begins with previews on Wednesday, January 10 and runs through Saturday, February 3.
