Uptown Players, a professional theater group located in the Uptown area of Dallas, has announced its 2017-2018 season at the Kalita Humphreys Theater and Dallas City Performance Hall.

Second Thought Theatre closes its 2017 season of change with the world premiere of The Necessities by Dallas-based playwright and artist Blake Hackler. Joel Ferrell, Associate Artistic Director for the Dallas Theater Center, returns to direct after previously directing Othello and Gruesome Playground Injuries for the company.

2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award Recipient Dallas Theater Center will present the world premiere of Hood: The Robin Hood Musical Adventure, a new musical comedy written and directed by five-time Tony-nominated playwright Douglas Carter Beane with music and lyrics by Lewis Flinn.

Uptown Players continues its 2017 season with the hit musical La Cage Aux Folles, running July 14 - 30, 2017 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects across the country in the NEA's second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2017. Included in this announcement is an Art Works award of $30,000 to Dallas Theater Center (DTC) to support the upcoming world-premiere production of Hood: The Robin Hood Musical Adventure. The NEA received 1,728 Art Works applications and will make 1,029 grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.

Tickets for Public Works Dallas The Winter's Tale will be available at a later date. Single tickets start at $20.

Dallas Theater Center announced today complete details for Inherit the Wind beginning on May 16 and running through June 18 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. The Pay-What-You-Can performance will be Tuesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Second Thought Theatre continues its 2017 season of change with the area premiere of Straight White Men by Young Jean Lee. Local director/actor Christie Vela returns to direct for the company after making her acting debut for Second Thought last summer in A Kid Like Jake. Straight White Men begins with previews on Wednesday, April 12 and runs through Saturday, May 6. All performances of Straight White Men will take place at Bryant Hall on the Kalita Humphreys Campus, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd. Tickets to Straight White Men can be purchased online at 2TT.co.

 Dallas Theater Center announced today complete details for Electra beginning on April 4 with a Pay-What-You-Can performance and running through May 21 in the outdoor venue of the Annette Strauss Square at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. Dallas Theater Center announced today that Hamilton: An American Musical stars Sydney James Harcourt and Elizabeth Judd will headline Centerstage 2017: Revolution and Revelry on Saturday, May 6.
