Written, directed and produced by Edward Burns (Saving Private Ryan, Public Morals), this dramedy series set in 1980 revolves around a group of recent college grads setting out to pursue their dreams in Manhattan while still clinging to the familiarity of their working-class Long Island home town.

Patton Daye Slater Productions announced today that Tony Award-winning producer, Obie Award-winning actor and renowned director Tamara Tunie (Julius Caesar on Broadway with Denzel Washington, 'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit') has signed on to direct the company's New York-bound musical drama Love & Southern D!scomfort.

The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues' seventh edition last night was one for the books! A group of the best actors in the business were paired with celebrated writers, who worked through Monday night to create unique pieces especially for them. From 6 PM on, 24 new monologues were published, one every 15 minutes.

The 19th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its 2020 Shorts Program lineup. Setting a record with over 6,100 submissions, the final program roster includes 64 diverse and captivating short films from 20 countries around the globe, and features 46 world premieres, including DreamWorks Animation's new animated short, To Gerard. The short films will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs which include five narrative, four documentary, and one animation program. For the fourth consecutive year, 40 percent of the selections are directed by female filmmakers. Queen Collective by Procter & Gamble in partnership with Queen Latifah, Flavor Unit Entertainment and Tribeca Studios is back, a program dedicated to supporting gender and racial equality behind the camera. The 2020 shorts lineup is programmed by Sharon Badal and Ben Thompson. The 2020 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 15 - April 26.

The acclaimed SHOWTIME comedy series KIDDING, starring Golden Globe® winner Jim Carrey, returns to television for its second season on Sunday, February 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, airing back-to-back episodes at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT every Sunday. Season two hosts an impressive roster of guest stars including Grammy® winners Ariana Grande and Tyler, The Creator, NBA all-star Blake Griffin, Emmy® winner Dick Van Dyke (Mary Poppins), Rachel Boston (500 Days Of Summer), Mae Whitman (Good Girls) and Oscar® and Golden Globe nominee Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight). Tara Lipinski and Jenna Alvarez have signed on to return as guest stars for the second season.

Deadline reports that Mary-Louise Parker will reprise her role on an upcoming 'Weeds' sequel series from Starz. The original series ran between 2005 and 2012.

For the fifth year, THROUGH HER LENS: The Tribeca CHANEL Women's Filmmaker Program will create new opportunities for women filmmakers. Tribeca and CHANEL, in collaboration with Pulse Films and Tribeca Film Institute (TFI), founded THROUGH HER LENS in 2015 to provide industry support, artistic development, and funding to emerging U.S.-based female writers and directors. Participants will gather in New York City for the program's 5th edition, which will run November 4-6, 2019.

Deadline reports that Justin Kirk will join 'Perry Mason,' a reimagined HBO miniseries. He joins previously-announced cast members John Lithgow, Matthew Rhys, and Tatiana Maslany.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mae Whitman and Eric Roberts are set to join the second season of KIDDING on Showtime. The two will guest star on Jim Carrey's series, which is set to return this fall. 

'Indecent,' by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel, opened on June 9 at Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. Directed by Rebecca Taichman in a co-production with Huntington Theatre Company, the Tony Award-nominated 'Indecent' will run through July 7, 2019.

SHOWTIME has ordered a second season of its comedy series KIDDING, starring two time Golden Globe® winner and Emmy® nominee Jim Carrey in his first series regular role in more than two decades. Ordered for 10 episodes next season, KIDDING is created by Dave Holstein (WEEDS, Raising Hope). The first season of KIDDING currently airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, with its season finale on November 11. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks Inc.

Annapurna Pictures set Adam McKay's VICE, a Dick Cheney biopic, to open on Christmas Day, according to Variety.
