San Francisco Opera will open its 103rd season with a new revival of Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto, running September 5–27, 2025 at the War Memorial Opera House.

Coinciding with San Francisco's annual Pride Weekend, San Francisco Opera celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community with a special Pride Concert featuring immersive projections and a post-show dance party on Friday, June 27 at the War Memorial Opera House. 

San Francisco Opera will present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Idomeneo from June 14–25 as part of its 2025 Summer Season at the War Memorial Opera House. Caroline H. Hume Music Director Eun Sun Kim leads these performances of the composer's early masterpiece, which premiered in 1781 when Mozart was just 25, in a new-to-San Francisco Opera staging by Australian director Lindy Hume. Company Chorus Director John Keene prepares the artists of the San Francisco Opera Chorus for the opera's choral scenes.

San Francisco Opera’s 2024 Fall Season will conclude with the return of Georges Bizet’s Carmen from November 13–December 1 at the War Memorial Opera House.

San Francisco Opera Presents Strauss and Hofmannsthal's 'Die Frau ohne San Francisco Opera presents Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hofmannsthal's fairy-tale opera Die Frau ohne Schatten (The Woman Without a Shadow) from June 4–28 at the War Memorial Opera House.

While this production of 'Carmen' is very traditional on its face, the thoughtfulness and sheer talent packed into this performance elevates it to something far more engaging, and absolutely enchanting. It’s more than worthy of audiences’ time, and hopefully WNO’s fresh interpretation will help audiences reconsider the true tragedy presented.

On October 14, 2021, San Francisco Opera presented Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio, in a well-thought-out production with an outstanding cast. Matthew Ozawa directed the action in a prison of the current era. There, Leonore, a prisoner’s wife disguises herself as a male worker and rescues her husband from unjust incarceration.

The artists and artistry of San Francisco Opera will be on full display in Celebrating the Voices of San Francisco Opera, a virtual event that will be unveiled at sfopera.com, YouTube and Facebook on Friday, December 4 at 7:30 pm Pacific.

Some casting updates for the repertory were announced today and additional casting of supporting roles will be released at a future date.
