Joana Vicente and Cameron Bailey, Co-Heads of TIFF, today announced that Academy Award-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins will be honoured with the Variety Artisan Award at this year's TIFF Tribute Gala awards event. The award recognizes a distinguished filmmaker who has excelled at their craft and made an outstanding contribution to cinema. Francine The Lucid Dream hosts this evening of music and burlesque and, in-between champagne breaks, might break out into song & dance. There's no telling whether she'll sing Sinatra or Gaga but she'll do it her way because she was born this way.

Sundance Institute today announced Fellows and Advisors for the five-day 2019 Creative Producing Labs, as well as the three-day Creative Producing Summit which immediately follows; both take place at Utah's Sundance Mountain Resort. The Labs begins July 29, and the Summit August 2. These are the flagship convenings for the Institute's Creative Producing Program, which champions and develops current and rising generations of producers across fiction and nonfiction film.

Corkscrew Theater Festival's third annual summer season continues with the world premiere of Sam Silbiger's Six Years Old. Directed by Helen Handelman and running July 13-28, Six Years Old centers on a precocious child's frustrations with being treated as a girl and her journey of self-discovery, aided by her babysitter Kim, to become the person she longs to be: Han Solo.

Corkscrew Theater Festival is pleased to announce the mainstage casts for its third annual festival, which runs July 10-August 3 at the Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street, Manhattan). The festival features four world premieres, four workshop productions, and four readings performed in repertory over four weeks, with 80 performances in all. As in past years, special attention has been given to theater makers who are developing work through tight-knit collaborations. Tickets are now on sale.

GARY GULMAN: THE GREAT DEPRESH, the comedian and actor's first hour-long HBO comedy special, debuts later this year, it was announced today by Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president, HBO Programming. Taping Saturday, June 22 at Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn, the special will be directed by Michael Bonfiglio (HBO's 'May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers'), who is also producing with Gulman. Judd Apatow executive produces.

University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance alumni Brett Cullen and Sally Mayes, stars of the stage and screen, are bringing their work back to their alma mater for the world premiere of 'Contradiction of the Southern Soul.'  The play was written by Mayes and will be directed by Cullen. The workshop- meaning the production is in its developmental stage- will debut at the UH Jose Quintero Theatre Thursday, May 9 - Sunday, May 12.

The Boch Center and Live Nation announced that iconic podcast host Marc Maron will bring his brand-new stand up show, Hey, There's More, to the Boch Center Shubert Theatre for two shows on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 7:00PM & 10:00PM. The UK's leading film critics today announced the nominations for the 39th annual London Critics' Circle Film Awards presented by Dover Street Entertainment. Yorgos Lanthimos' black comedy The Favourite was out front with 10 nominations, including Film, Director, Screenwriter, Actress for Olivia Colman and Supporting Actress for Rachel Weisz. In addition, the film is nominated for British/Irish Film of the Year.
