The Billy Rose Theatre Division at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts has made the archives of Joan Marcus and Carol Rosegg publicly accessible. The collected work by the prominent theater photographers was acquired in 2018. It represents one of the largest digital acquisition of photography ever made by the Library.

Good news! The Broadway and national touring companies of Wicked are looking for their new stars. The Telsey Office just announced that they will hold an open call for singers in Atlanta, Georgia on September 22, 2022. Performers of all ethnicities and gender identities are welcome to audition.

AS YOU LIKE IT was adapted by Public Theater Artist-in-Residence Shaina Taub and Director of Public Works Laurie Woolery, with music and lyrics by Shaina Taub. What did our critic think of THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA at Nederlander Theatre? Haute mess. Fashion weak. Prêt-à-poor taste. I could go on with the fashion puns all day, but suffice to say THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, the new musical which opened Sunday in not quite ready for the runway in its current state.

What did our critic think of HAMILTON at Kennedy Center Opera House? Hamilton, the 11 Tony award-winning musical, has returned to the Kennedy Center Opera House through October 9.

The juggernaut, the glory, the hot ticket in town has returned. Yes, “Hamilton”, that multiple Tony Award winning phenomenon that’s still a big seller on Broadway has made its way back to Seattle and, good news, you have a bit over a month to catch it. Even better news, they’re doing the lottery for $10 tickets again. And possibly the best news, this production and its cast are fantastic!

What did our critic think of WICKED at Orpheum? So much happened before Dorothy dropped in. Wicked, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz ... but from a different angle.

When Lin-Manuel Miranda’s epic masterpiece Hamilton was last in residence at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center – where it is now ensconced for an as equally anticipated, if briefer, two-week run through August 7 – the world was a far different place than that in which we live today. Yet somehow, due in very large part to the Covid-19 pandemic, the January 6th insurrection at our nation’s Capitol, and the repercussions and reverberations of those two cataclysmic events that have followed in the intervening two-and-a-half years, Hamilton seems to be more resonant, its story more relevant and its presentation more heartrending and current than ever before.

See the Public Works community in rehearsal for the Free Shakespeare in the Park production of AS YOU LIKE IT, beginning performances on August 10. The show officially opens on August 30 and runs through September 11. Check out rehearsal photos here!

The work is smart, kinetic, occasionally a bit raunchy and a blast. Basically, this is part of the evolution of improvised comedy, only with better music. The Groundlings should be so cool.
