Lovers Leap Announce Self-Titled Debut EP Lovers Leap Announce Self-Titled Debut EP
by TV News Desk - Jan 25, 2019

Lovers Leap, a brand new partnership of musicians Shelby Means (Sally & George, formerly of Della Mae), Mary Lucey (formerly of Biscuit Burners), Joel Timmons (Sally & George, Sol Driven Train), and Billy Cardine (Acoustic Syndicate, formerly of Biscuit Burners), have announced their debut EP, Lovers Leap. Set to be released April 19, 2019,the eponymous collection of songs is a healthy mix of all four member's backgrounds; beautiful, tight three-part harmony, dobro acrobatics, easy groove, and galloping bluegrass. Over the course of a year, Lovers Leap was recorded one or two days at a time, dancing around band members' hectic schedules, in both touring and everyday life. When possible, the group would retreat to Cardine and Lucey's home studio in Pisgah National Forest, outside of Asheville, NC. At the end of a steep gravel road, the group had no choice but to let their surroundings seep into the project. Long walks, tending to beehives, and digging holes for fruit trees broke up routine and refreshed spirits in between song takes, and the songs shine in the laid-back, tranquil nature of the recordings. The record's first single and opening song, “Walnut Tree”, was debuted yesterday by Folk Alley. Lucey told Folk Alley, “I wrote this song, sitting on the deck, gazing out at a beautiful giant walnut tree on our mountainside. It's about the subtle power of nature that can help us along when we are in need of clarity or rejuvenation.” Hear the song and more about “Walnut Tree” here.  (more...)

Danny Burns Signs to Bonfire Recording Co Danny Burns Signs to Bonfire Recording Co
by TV News Desk - Nov 8, 2018

Don't call Danny Burns a newcomer. Two decades before releasing his 2018 debut, North Country — a collaborative album filled with appearances by icons like Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Tift Merritt, and Dan Tyminski— he kicked off his career as a traveling folksinger, logging shows on both sides of the Atlantic. He's been on the road ever since, sharpening a sound that mixes the folk traditions of his native Ireland with diverse American influences. After living in America for 19 years — first in New York City, where he cut his teeth with a string of bar gigs, followed by stints in New Orleans, Chicago, and the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC — Burns has shared shows with a number of acclaimed musicians who, like him, breathe new life into older sounds. North Country nods to that diverse group of friends, shining a light not only Burns himself, but also on the community he inhabits. Holly Williams, Mindy Smith, Cara Dillon, Tim O'Brien, ChessBoxer, and Old Crow Medicine Show's Critter Fuqua all make appearances. The result is a transatlantic folk album that's both diverse and driving, filled with swooning melodies, evocative storytelling, and an elevated level of musicianship. Self-produced by the frontman himself, North Country was largely recorded at Gary Paczosa's home studio in Nashville, as well as the city's Butcher Shoppe studio (owned by John Prine and David 'Fergie' Ferguson).
