Wright State Theatre will present the hit 1980s musical comedy The Wedding Singer, November 13–23, 2025, at the Festival Playhouse in Wright State University’s Creative Arts Center.

Wright State University’s Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures has announced its 2025–2026 season, themed “Remember, Reflect, Reimagine.” Spanning comedy, drama, musicals, and world premieres, the season invites audiences to explore coming-of-age stories, historic turning points, and fresh takes on theatrical classics.

Celebrate Halloween with the Stephen King novel-inspired CARRIE: the musical under the direction of Jamie Cordes (Senior Lecturer), and music direction by Matt Ebright.  CARRIE will run three weekends from Oct. 31st to Nov. 17th. 

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati will close its 2023-2024 Season with the regional musical revival of the fan favorite Hands on a Hardbody.

Wright State Theatre will present in the Herbst Studio Theatre a regional premiere musical comedy KELLY THE DESTROYER VS THE SPRINGFIELD COBRAS by the writing team of Katie Kring and Rob Hartmann. 

Kicking off The Human Race Theatre Company's 38th year, This is Tom Jones! makes its world premiere in September of 2023.

Wright State Theatre presents Gilbert and Sullivan’s mistaken identity musical farce, THE GONDOLIERS in our Herbst Theatre from February 18th through February 27th. Written in 1889 by the great founders of English Musical Comedy, Sir Arthur Sullivan and Sir W.S. Gilbert, THE GONDOLIERS is at times as comic as a Saturday Night Live sketch, at other times touching and romantic, and always relentlessly tuneful. Gilbert and Sullivan are the forerunners of some of the greatest writers in the history of Musical Theatre, including Cole Porter, the Gershwins, and Stephen Sondheim. The influences of their comedy and music can be heard in even contemporary musicals like Book of Mormon, Avenue Q and Urinetown. 

The Human Race Theatre Company continues its 35th year with Chelsea Marcantel's award-winning play Airness, the story of a young guitar player's introduction to the unique and intense world of competitive air guitar.  But even more, it's about being true to yourself, letting go of your inhibitions, accepting people for who they are and finding the Rockstar locked deep inside yourself.
