The original hit production of People, Places and Things will make a return to London's West End, this spring. 

San Francisco Opera's 101st season continues May 30–June 30 at the War Memorial Opera House with the highly anticipated American premiere of Kaija Saariaho's final opera, INNOCENCE, along with Mozart's THE MAGIC FLUTE (DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE) and Handel's PARTENOPE, presented in award-winning productions.

In autumn 2024, there will be the Swedish premiere of the musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, based on Roald Dahl's classic Kalle and the Chocolate Factory. The musical premieres at the Gothenburg Opera in a completely new set.

This April, The Royal Opera stages the long-awaited UK premiere of Innocence. The original creative team are reunited at Covent Garden alongside an outstanding ensemble cast, following the production's triumphant world premiere at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence in 2021.

This March, after making her ENO directorial debut with the gripping new production of the multi-award nominated The Handmaid's Tale in 2022, Annilese Miskimmon (the ENO's Artistic Director) directs the new production of Erich Wolfgang Korngold's The Dead City (Die tote Stadt).

Rehearsal images for Phaedra are released today, as writer-director Simon Stone (Yerma, Young Vic) makes his National Theatre debut reimagining Seneca’s famous tragedy in this striking new play.

LA Opera will open its 2022/23 season with a new production of Lucia di Lammermoor, Gaetano Donizetti's spellbinding tale of marriage, madness and murder. Lina González-Granados leads the proceedings in her debut outing as the company's new Resident Conductor.

​​​​​​​Joining Simon Russell Beale in the title role, Clare Higgins as Gunhild Borkman and Lia Williams as Ella Rentheim, are Sebastian De Souza as Erhart Borkman, Daisy Ou as Frida Foldal, Laila Rouass as Fanny Wilton and Michael Simkins as Wilhelm Foldal who complete the cast for Henrik Ibsen's John Gabriel Borkman, in a new version by Lucinda Coxon at the Bridge Theatre.

The Royal Opera presents The Blue Woman – a new, political opera exploring the psychological aftermath of sexual violence experienced by women. Composed by Laura Bowler, directed by Katie Mitchell, and with a libretto by Laura Lomas, the work opens on Wednesday 6 July in the Linbury Theatre, and invites a conversation about how the art form deals with the topic of violence against women.

Well, no one can say that the Met doesn’t have guts. After the tepid response that subscribers gave its Las Vegas version of Verdi’s RIGOLETTO by Michael Mayer, no one would have suspected that they’d come up with a version of Donizetti’s LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR that made anything else it’s produced look tame. And while the new LUCIA isn’t something that will send every Met attendee into quivers of excitement--I don’t think I’ve ever heard so many pros and cons discussed at an intermission before--it also won’t send them to sleep either.
