THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHTTIME by CCAE Theatricals is a visually and physically creative endeavor that effectively tells this story and the inner thoughts of the lead character who uniquely perceives the world.

CCAE Theatricals has released production photos for the San Diego premiere of Curious Incident, based on the best-selling novel by Mark Haddon, adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens and directed by J. We sat down with director J Scott Lapp as he prepares to direct The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at CCAE Theatricals.

The Tony award-winning play based on the best-selling novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, will play the Center Theatre at The California Center for the Arts, Escondido from February 16 to March 3, 2024. Check out the cast here!

BOTTLESHOCK! THE MUSICAL at CCAE Theatricals brings the beauty of Napa Valley and the tale of the underdog 1970s winery that took Paris and the world of wine by storm in the summer of 1976. This original musical has some beautifully sung numbers, an abundance of heart, and also some wine-tasting options if you really want to feel immersive.  BOTTLESHOCK! Following up on the heels of Sunday in the Park with George and Ain’t Misbehavin’, CCAE Theatricals will present the final show in their 2022/23 Season, the world premiere of Bottle Shock! The third annual In the Works~In the Woods at Forestburgh Playhouse, (under the leadership of Franklin Trapp, Producing Artistic Director for the Forestburgh Playhouse and Broadway veteran Matt Lenz, Festival Artistic Director and Director of Creative Development), will be held September 8 through 10.

One of the most acclaimed musicals of our time, Sunday in the Park with George, won the Pulitzer Prize and was nominated for 10 Tony Awards in 1984 including Best Musical. This rarely-done musical was last produced in San Diego by Ion Theatre in 2016. Sunday in the Park with George, starring Will Blum and Emily Lopez, runs February 17 - March 5, 2023. The winners have been announced for the 2022 BroadwayWorld San Diego Awards, honoring the best in regional productions, touring shows, and more which had their first performance between October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.

Here is a list of some of my favorite theatre experiences in San Diego in 2022! This is by no means a complete list of everything that was excellent in this past year, but now we get to turn towards 2023 and all of the fantastic theatre that is sure to come our way.
