THE BLEEDING TREE debuted in 2014 and immediately met critical acclaim, winning a heap of awards, and has impressed and confronted audiences throughout Australia. After a successful Blue Room Theatre in 2021, this iteration of the show has been expanded and enhanced for a run in Stuio Underground, a setting which suits the play perfectly.

ONCE has taken the world by storm. Beginning as a 2007 movie, it went to Broadway in 2011 where it won multiple awards. It played to sold out audiences in Sydney,and Perth can count itself lucky to be hosting it now. The hype is justified, the awards fully with merit, and it is no stretch to say that witnessing this musical is an absolute pleasure.

As Australia counts down the sleeps to its next federal election, there's a growing feeling amongst certain parts of the population that this is a particularly pivotal one, and Black Swan State Theatre Company's current production Water by Jane Bodie is a timely reflection of our current state of political, environmental and immigration affairs. Water addresses the issues surrounding migration to and from Australia, with its stories traversing three time periods, chronicling the treatment of migrants facing deportation, and being processed through detention centres.
