Join a live studio audience on the set of a '70s-style sitcom as The Inconvenience, The New Colony and the University of Chicago's Theater and Performance Studies Program team up to co-produce the world premiere of B-SIDE STUDIO, co-written by Inconvenience Resident Writer Ike Holter and New Colony Co-Artistic Director Evan Linder and directed by Nicholas J. Carroll, Andrew Hobgood and Gus Menary. B-SIDE STUDIO is performed on Fridays and Saturdays at 9/8c (that's 8 pm in Chicago, meathead!) now through October 12, 2013 at The Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St. in Chicago. Red Tape Reaches Kickstarter Goal to Fund THE LIFE AND DEATH OF MADAM BARKER; Tickets Now on Sale

Red Tape Theatre (RTT) has announcde the successful conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign dedicated to raising funds to help produce the World Premiere of The Life and Death of Madam Barker. Through generous donations from the community, they surpassed our initial goal of $2000, raising a total of $2270.

Theatre Seven of Chicago brings together nine talented Chicago's playwrights to commemorate the 100th anniversary of suffrage in Illinois with the world premiere of UNWILLING AND HOSTILE INSTRUMENTS: 100 Years of Extraordinary Chicago Women. Woven together into one full-length work are the incredible stories of Jane Addams, Myra Bradwell, Ann Landers, Mavis Staples, Cora Strayer, Maurine Watkins and Ida B. Wells. UNWILLING AND HOSTILE INSTRUMENTS plays October 1 - October 27, 2013 at American Theater Company, 1909 W. Byron St. in Chicago. Tickets are available at www.theatreseven.org.

Jackalope Theatre Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director AJ Ware, Associate Artistic Director Kaiser Ahmed, Managing Director Nate Silver, Director of Development & Community Engagement Andrew Burden Swanson, announces its 2013/14 season. The company's 6th season will feature the world premiere of Calamity West's The Peacock directed by Marti Lyons, the world premiere of Cory Hinkle's The Killing of Michael X: A New Film by Celia Wallace directed by Associate Artistic Director Kaiser Ahmed, and the world premiere of Ike Holter's Exit Strategy directed by Founding Company Member Gus Menary. The season will conclude with The 5th Annual Living Newspapers Festival, Jackalope's festival of short plays inspired by current American newspaper articles.

Red Tape Theatre (RTT) opens its tenth season with the World Premiere of The Life and Death of Madam Barker on October 14th, 2013. Tickets will go on sale September 16th at www.redtapetheatre.org. All performances will be presented at RTT's home in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, located at 621 W Belmont Ave. Tickets during the regular run for The Life and Death of Madam Barker will be $25, General Admission with Preview tickets discounted at $15 and all Thursday night performances being "Pay What You Can". Performances are Thursdays-Mondays at 8pm.

THE LIFE AND DEATH OF MADAM BARKER and More Set for Red Tape Theatre's 10th Season

Red Tape Theatre (RTT) announces their 2013/14 Season, which marks their 10th Anniversary Season and first season under the direction of new Artistic Director, Brandon Ray. The season opens October 14th, 2013 with the world premiere of The Life and Death of Madam Barker by Brooke Allen, with music and lyrics by John Fournier and directed by Eric Hoff. Then, in January of 2014 RTT will present the US premiere of hamlet is dead. no gravity by Ewald Palmetshofer, translated by Neil Blackadder and directed by Seth Bockley. Concluding the season in May of 2014, RTT will present another US Premiere, Earthquakes in London, by Mike Bartlett and directed by Brandon Ray. Red Tape Theatre's 10th Season will be presented at its home in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, located at 621 W Belmont Ave.

LiveWire Chicago Theatre 'gets technical' at VisionFest 5: Johnny 5 Is Alive, ten short plays inspired by technology's influence on society (or what happens when things short circuit). The fifth annual festival will be presented now through August 2, 2013 at INTUIT - The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art, 756 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. Each play will be staged in a different area of the multi-room gallery, with drinking and mingling encouraged as audiences move from play to play. The press opening is tonight, July 19 at 7:30 pm and 9 pm (marathon performance). Scroll down for a first look at the shows!

Goodman Theatre's 2012-13 Playwrights Unit Presents Free Staged Readings, Now thru 8/16

Goodman Theatre presents four free staged readings of new plays developed in the Playwrights Unit, a season-long residency program for local writers who meet twice monthly with members of the theater's artistic staff to discuss their plays in progress. Out of this process emerges four brand new plays, which appear in FREE staged readings: Sleeping with the Prince of Darkness: The Imagined Pillow Talk of FBI Agent John O'Neill by Greg Allen (July 20 at 7:30pm); F(law)less by christopher oscar peña (July 21 at 2:30pm); Prowess by Ike Holter (July 21 at 7:30pm); and Ninth Man Out by Alice Austen (August 16 at 7:30pm).
