WA's performing arts industry celebrated the outstanding achievements of actors, directors, producers, theatre- and dance-makers at last night's 2022 Performing Arts WA Awards.

The award-winning creative team behind Sydney Theatre Company's critically-acclaimed production The Picture of Dorian Gray will realise another gothic adaptation written by STC Artistic Director Kip Williams, this time Robert Louis Stevenson's classic Strange Case of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde, which premieres at Roslyn Packer Theatre this August.

Following a proud and emotional homecoming season in Western Australia, writer, performer and Wongutha-Yamatji man Meyne Wyatt is bringing his acclaimed play City of Gold to Sydney Theatre Company from May 7 in an electrifying new production directed by STC Resident Director, Shari Sebbens.

Named for STC's founding Artistic Director, the Richard Wherrett Fellowship is a year-long opportunity for emerging directors to gain experience and mentorship while being embedded in the Company.

On Saturday, August 28, 2021, I saw THE SUBURBS, a three segment show, each segment written by a different writer, including Catherine Yu, Tony Meneses, and Phanésia Pharel, respectively. All three stories are directed by Kholoud Sawaf.  With THE SUBURBS, Thrown Stone has presented a world premiere, which furthermore is a roving production set in three different venues, which in sequence include Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center, the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, and West Lane Inn. 

One of the highlights of the festival is a High Tea with Elders, which will offer a limited number of people a direct audience with the City of Perth Elders Advisory Group, as they share their personal stories and vast cultural knowledge. Limited registrations on the day.

Set on Ballardong boodja, the story takes place around an abandoned hospital in the township of York. It's a thrilling ride from humour to terror as we wind back time to reveal a dark past.
