The Theater Company (TTC) will hold open call auditions for their summer production of SWEENEY TODD - THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET on June 1 & 2, 2010 from 6-9pm at DeBaun Auditorium in Hoboken, New Jersey. Based on a version of SWEENEY TODD by Christopher Bond, the musical, with book by Hugh Wheeler and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, is a chilling, suspenseful story of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime.

The City of Cleveland Heights and Cain Park proudly announce that Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Book by Hugh Wheeler) opens Cain Park's 2010 season in the Alma Theater June 11-27 (preview June 10). Paul Gurgol, founder/artistic director of Kalliope Stage, directs this 1979 Tony Award-winning musical thriller with music direction by Jodie Ricci.

Tonight, Goodman Theatre's Education and Community Engagement department presents a special panel discussion, Too Broken to Reform? How We Can Fix Public Education. Education experts Valerie Hannon and Dr. Tim Knowles, discuss the current state of Chicago school systems, while engaging the community in a call to action for education reform.

Cygnet Theatre's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street opens on March 27 at 8PM. The beloved murderous musical, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, joins the list of other Sondheim works already produced or produced in staged-readings on Cygnet's stages. Co-Directed by Cygnet Artistic Director Sean Murray and Resident Artist James Vasquez, Sweeney Todd runs through April 25th, 2010 at Cygnet's Old Town Theatre.

The 5th Avenue Theatre has announced the cast for our upcoming production of Leonard Bernstein's Candide, directed by the 5th's Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong. Starring in the title role is New York actor Stanley Bahorek, who's performed in the national tour of Big River and on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

During an interview with Graham Norton (who was standing in for Chris Evans) on BBC Radio 2 Debbie Reynolds said she is in talks to replace Angela Lansbury in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC.

The Drama League (Jano Herbosch, President; Gabriel Shanks, Executive Director), announced the nominations for the 2009-10 Drama League Awards today at Sardi's with the help of Broadway stars Kelsey Grammer (La Cage Aux Folles) and Bebe Neuwirth (The Addams Family). The 76th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon will take place on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 12:00pm at the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. The event will be co-hosted by Vanessa Williams (Sondheim on Sondheim) and Michael Urie (The Temperamentals).

Showbiz411.com is reporting this morning that Gwyneth Paltrow and her real-life mother, Blythe Danner, are considered to be possible replacements for Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury, respectively, in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, once the pair complete their run in the Sondheim revival after the Tony Awards in June.

Nonesuch Records and PS Classics released the 2010 new Broadway cast recording of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. That same day, Stephen Sondheim and the A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC cast signed copies of the album at the Walter Kerr Theatre, with production crews on hand to document the day.
