The theatre program at Oakland University is delighted to host guest performer Avner the Eccentric in his show 'Exceptions to Gravity' set for 7:30 p.m. tonight, Jan. 16.

Amphibian Stage Productions (Kathleen Culebro, Artistic Director) today announced casting for its first main stage production of the 2014 season, Bank Job, a world premiere by award-winning playwright John Kolvenbach. Leicester Landon, Alexandra Lawrence, Michael Muller, William Earl Ray, and Marshall York will star in this comedy, running Thursday, February 13 through Sunday, March 2 at Amphibian's theater at 120 S. Main Street. Jessica Bauman will direct the production.

Avner Eisenberg is a master of the art of physical comedy, an internationally-known vaudeville performer, clown, mime, juggler and sleight of hand magician. He has performed throughout the United States and made many appearances in Europe, as well as in Asia and South America.

At some point while I was en route to see Let it Be Christmas, I couldn't help but laugh. Here I am, an atheist who grew up in a half-Jewish/half-Christian household, going to see an original musical based on the nativity and featuring music by the Beatles, a band featuring John Lennon who once said 'We're more popular than Jesus.' Oh, and the show's in a church. So to recap, I'm an atheistic half-Jew going to a church to see a show about Jesus featuring songs by a band who claimed to be more popular than the savior himself.

CHICKS N' GIGGLES is an improv comedy group made up of men and women, I guess the men are the 'giggles'? I was under the impression it was all women from the name, but nope, men were on the stage too. And they all worked well together.
