THE DJANGO, downtown Manhattan’s premier jazz club, is commemorating Women’s History Month by hosting more than 20 leading female jazz artists on its stage during March.
Featuring GRAMMY-winning pianist Bill Charlap, bassist Peter Washington, and drummer Kenny Washington, the Bill Charlap Trio was formed nearly 25 years ago in 1997 and earned GRAMMY nominations for Uptown Downtown (Impulse!/Verve), Somewhere: The Songs of Leonard Bernstein, and The Bill Charlap Trio: Live at the Village Vanguard (both on the Blue Note label).
CHELSEA TABLE + STAGE will present Grammy Award-winning musician and composer Ted Nash in “Coltrane Meets Hartman” on Wednesday, December 29 at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM. The evening will pay tribute to the work of iconic saxophonist John Coltrane and legendary vocalist Johnny Hartman, one of the most famous collaborations in jazz history.
