New York City Ballet has announced week three programming for their digital season. 'See The Music' episode on Johannes Brahms' score for George Balanchine's Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet, featuring NYCB Resident Conductor Clotilde Otranto captured during a 2019 'See the Music' presentation, with an introduction by NYCB Music Director Andrew Litton.

Sarasota Opera is pleased to announce a preliminary lineup for the 2020 season of a?oeHD at the Opera Housea?? opening on Sunday, October 4th. The presentations will include Bizet's Carmen from the Zürich Opera House, Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty ballet from Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and Puccini's Madama Butterfly from Teatro Real in Madrid. Each presentation will begin at 1:30pm. More titles may be added to the schedule in coming weeks.

Every theatre has a 'ghost light'. A light that is left on when the theatre is empty for the resident ghost, but mainly to make sure that those who are first in or last out do not fall off the edge of the stage. It's reassuring to think that no theatre ever goes dark, but you could not help but be moved by the shots of dark emptiness within London's vast Royal Opera House as they screened their first live performance since the shutdown of all theatres and live venues across the country.

Amid the current situation with COVID-19, Pennsylvania Ballet will postpone the remainder of the 2019-20 season, including April's production of Suspended in Time at the Merriam Theater and May's Breathtaking Balanchine at the Academy of Music. The postponement of these ballets will alter the programming for the 2020-21 season.

The Colorado Music Festival (CMF) in Boulder, Colorado, isn't broadly known outside the state, but it should be. This summer, under the leadership of the recently arrived Music Director Peter Oundjian, the Festival will actually present more 21st-century pieces (16, including two world premieres) than works by Beethoven (13). That reflects Oundjian's commitment to presenting the work of living composers as well as music by masters of the canon. This is the first year of the Festival's five-year commitment to commissioning new works and presenting them in Boulder.

Following the latest tour of their popular ballet productions last year, the internationally acclaimed Russian State Ballet and Opera House return to the Belgrade Theatre this spring with a double-bill of classic operas, centred on two fearless female characters.

MasterVoices continues its 2019-20 season on Thursday April 2, at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Artistic Director Ted Sperling will lead a concert staging of Bizet's Carmen in its original Opéra Comique version, with dialogue rather than recitative, sung in English translation by award-winning Broadway lyricist Sheldon Harnick. His translation of Carmen was commissioned and premiered by the Houston Grand Opera in 1981 and served as the English text for Peter Brook's ingenious 90-minute La tragédie de Carmen which was performed at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in New York in 1984. The MasterVoices performance will mark the New York premiere of the full translation.

When a knife fight with another employee leads to her arrest, she charms Corporal Don José into letting her escape. Like a moth drawn to a flame, Don José forsakes his military career and the innocent peasant girl Micaëla for a life on the lam with Carmen and a band of smugglers.

IN Series' 'Le Cabaret de Carmen' is a haunting, beautiful spin on the popular tragedy. It's a unique and thoughtful retelling, with a wonderful cast and production team, and is entrancing from its languid opening to its dramatic finale.
