Festival Ballet Providence Presents Viktor Plotnikov's CARMEN In Up Close On Hope Series

Festival Ballet Providence (FBP) will present Viktor Plotnikov's fiery and romantic Carmen in the fall program of the Company's award-winning Black Box series, UP CLOSE ON HOPE. November 1-3 and 8-10, 2019. The show takes place in FBP's intimate 95-seat Black Box Theatre, 825 Hope Street, Providence, RI. This unique setting immerses audiences in the dancers' every movement, offering an emotionally powerful experience as well as the opportunity to witness the athleticism of dance like never before.

The 22nd Beijing Music Festival Presents Unique Music Experiences

Celebrating its twenty-second year, the 2019 Beijing Music Festival (BMF) presents an art feast for audiences during Beijing's golden autumn. Over the past two decades, world-renowned conductor Long Yu established a rich artistic foundation for the Beijing Music Festival. And beginning in 2018, the new artistic director Shuang Zou, with the support of Maestro Long Yu, the BMF Artistic Committee, and supporting staff, has succeeded in incorporating more inclusive and avant-garde artistic elements to the festival, which are sure to surprise and impress audiences.

MasterVoices Announces 2019-20 Season

Ted Sperling, Artistic Director of MasterVoices, announced details of the acclaimed ensemble's 78th season, celebrating the joy of choral singing and the power of the human voice to unite, inspire and connect since 1941. Highlights include three major musical presentations at top venues, including a New York premiere, and the World Premiere of a new work, commissioned by the Company. Throughout the season there will be collaborations with leading singers, artists, ensembles and organizations, some who are familiar with and others who are new to the Company.

OGCMA Presents Grand Orchestra Finale August 1

Concluding the 'Summer Stars' Classical Concert Series, OGCMA will present 'GRAND ORCHESTRA FINALE' on Thursday, August 1 (7:30 pm) in the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove.

BWW Review: THE PEARL FISHERS at Santa Fe Opera

On June 29, Santa Fe Opera presented its second production of the 2019 season, a revival of Georges Bizet's exotic THE PEARL FISHERS. First seen in Lee Blakekely's 2012 version, the production has fared well. Current director Shawna Lucey staged a tasteful, straight forward revival of the work Bizet wrote 12 years before his immortal CARMEN.

Musco Center Presents FREE SYMPHONY IN THE CITIES

For the first time in more than twenty years of Wroc?aw's Superproductions, an opera will not be heard. Next year, spectators will see a dance and multimedia spectacle: dance setting will be created by polish female choreographers of the young generation.

Presented in American director Francesca Zambello's acclaimed staging, which has been mounted by Opera Australia, Royal Opera, Covent Garden, and Norwegian National Opera, the opera features American mezzo-soprano J'Nai Bridges in her first professional performances of the title role and American tenor Matthew Polenzani assuming the role of Don Jose for the first time. Romanian soprano Anita Hartig makes her San Francisco Opera debut as Micaela and American bass-baritone Kyle Ketelsen is the bullfighter, Escamillo. In his first opera engagement with the Company, conductor James Gaffigan leads the cast and San Francisco Opera Orchestra.

The 2019 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out last night to recipients in 19 categories, with one special award and three honorary awards also bestowed. The Lortel Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball Center hosted by Drama Desk Award-nominated writer and performer of The New One, Mike Birbiglia. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Additional support is provided by TDF.

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) today announced the 2019 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The nominations were announced this morning by the current stars of Waitress, Shoshana Bean and Jeremy Jordan, at the official announcement event at Sardi's Restaurant, which was streamed live online here at BroadwayWorld.

Maria Callas was a unique opera singer with an instantly recognizable voice. As a result, today's opera fans still have a desire to hear her recordings and to try to know what her performances were like. On April 13, 2019, Los Angeles Opera, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books and BASE HOLOGRAM presented Callas in Concert at the 1200-seat Bovard Auditorium on the campus of the University of Southern California.

Lyric Opera Of KC Presents THE PEARL FISHERS At Kauffman Center

Lyric Opera of Kansas City concludes the 2018-2019 season with Bizet's sensuous and exotic The Pearl Fishers, April 27, May 1, 3 and 5 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
