Cleveland Play House (CPH) Artistic Director Laura Kepley announced today the casting of Cleveland native Mariah Burks in the title role of the timeless Greek tragedy Antigone. Staged in the intimate Outcalt Theatre March 28th through April 19th, 2020, this contemporary translation is freely adapted by playwright Emily Mann from the classic play by Sophocles. Following the sold-out run of its record-breaking world premiere production of The Prince of Providence this fall, Trinity Rep will revive the play about Buddy Cianci in summer 2021 in its intimate, 250-seat Dowling Theater. The production will close out the 2020-21 Trinity Rep season, following the regular six-show subscription season and the company's 43rd production of A Christmas Carol. Details, schedule, and cast will be announced at a later date. Tickets will be available only to subscribers until spring 2021, with 2019-20 Season subscribers granted first access in February 2020.
San Francisco Playhouse presents the Bay Area premiere of Tiny Beautiful Things by Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominated writer and actress Nia Vardalos, based on the book by best-selling author Cheryl Strayed (Wild). Bill English will direct the Playhouse production.
Trinity Rep closed its sold-out, record-breaking production of the world premiere play The Prince of Providence on October 27, after an extended seven-week run. The play was written by George Brant, based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name by Mike Stanton, and was directed by Taibi Magar. It covered the rise and fall of Providence's former mayor, Vincent A. a?oeBuddya?? Cianci. Prior to its Opening Night on September 16, the show became the highest-grossing, non-holiday production in the organization's 56-year history, breaking the record set by My Fair Lady in 2000. More than 13,000 people saw the show in Trinity Rep's intimate 250-seat Dowling Theater.

Trinity Rep will be auctioning off one pair of premium tickets to the final Saturday night performance of its sold-out run of The Prince of Providence. Proceeds will support the Tony Award-winning theater's education programs. As the lights come up on the Tony Winning Cleveland Play House's opening production of its 104thseason, it's 1942 and the Oberon Play House (a stand-in name for CPH), is about to open its season. There is a major problem, however. The plays scheduled are all Shakespeare, the company's males are all off fighting in World War II, and the director is in the service of his country.
In advance of the first performances of The Prince of Providence next week, Trinity Rep is announcing new ways to get tickets for this in-demand production, which has numerous sold-out performances and is already drawing audiences from 23 states. Each Monday at 10:00 am, additional tickets will be released for sale for that week's performances. Those tickets will be sold at regular prices. In addition, the day before each performance, patrons can enter a lottery for a limited number of tickets between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. Those tickets will be sold for $49. Asolo Rep proudly presents an FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training touring production of one of the greatest love stories of all time: William Shakespeare's ROMEO & JULIET. This fresh and fast 45-minute adaptation will be adapted and directed by Tyler Dobrowsky, who streamlined past touring production of The Tempest and Julius Caesar. The 10th annual educational touring production will travel to schools and community venues throughout the state of Florida from September 24 through November 24. There will also be a special performance for educators and press on Friday, September 27 at 6pm in the Cook Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.
