2019/2020 Productions Announced At The Pasadena Playhouse

Pasadena Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman announces four main stage productions for 2019/2020 including new productions of favorite musicals - Little Shop of Horrors with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, directed by Mike Donahue, and Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun with book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields, directed by Sarna Lapine - and two plays - the Los Angeles premiere of Lauren Yee's The Great Leap directed by BD Wong, a co-production with East West Players, and Alfred Molina starring in the critically acclaimed West End and Broadway hit The Father by Florian Zeller and directed by Jessica Kubzansky. One more production and additional programming will be announced at a later date.

In the Spring of 2001 playwright Patrick Riviere finished the first draft of his play The House of Nunzio. It was not his first play, but his first in years. By the fall of 2003, the full-length play described as a 'humorous drama' had been named a semi-finalist in two national playwriting competitions, had been given a reading at Manhattan Theatre Club Studios and was selected for a developmental workshop at Manhattan Theatre Source. It seemed as if the play was destined for a world premiere and yet the playwright struggled to find anyone who wanted to produce it, despite the accolades and preliminary interest from some theaters.

The Syracuse University Department of Drama resumes its 2018-2019 season with 'The Wild Party,'written and composed by Andrew Lippa. Faculty members Katherine McGerr and Andrea Lee Smith will take the audience into the world of the Roaring '20s with their direction and choreography. The musical will run from March 29 through April 7 in the Syracuse Stage/ Drama Complex, 820 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, New York, 13210.

Free Political Forum To Follow Performance Of FROST/NIXON At TheatreWorks Silicon Valley

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley announces a special post-show political forum for its production of the Tony and Olivier Award-nominated drama Frost/Nixon. Following the 2pm performance of Frost/Nixon on Saturday, February 2 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, audiences are invited to discuss the history and current relevance of the Watergate scandal with Dr. Theodore Glasser of Stanford University and Dr. Terri Bimes of University of California Berkeley in a conversation moderated by Cameron Wells, the assistant director of Frost/Nixon. Glasser, a professor emeritus of Communication whose research specializes in media practices and press accountability, and Bimes, a lecturer and Assistant Director of Research for the Institute of Governmental Studies who teaches about the presidency, will bring their unique perspectives to this free political forum, open to audience members and community members.
