NYC Department Of Cultural Affairs Announces Awards To 36 Nonprofits Through CreateNYC Language Access Fund

The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) has announced this year's recipients of grants through the CreateNYC Language Access Fund. 36 NYC-based nonprofits will receive grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 in support of programming that increases access to arts and culture for those whose primary language is not English. The awarded programs represent 12 languages a?" including Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Russian, and American Sign Language a?" and will serve audiences in all five boroughs.

La MaMa Has Announced Winter/Spring 2020 Season

La MaMa's 58th Season continues to celebrate the centennial of La MaMa's celebrated founder, the late Ellen Stewart with the announcement of its Winter/Spring lineup in its 58th season. The season features dozens of artists, playwrights, choreographers, directors, and award-winning theater companies and composers, including Elizabeth Swados, Anne Bogart, Noche Flamencia, Culture Hub, Hideki Noda/Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Nick Payne, En Garde Arts, Split Britches, and more.

En Garde Arts Production Of FANDANGO FOR BUTTERFLIES (AND COYOTES) Is On Sale Now

Tickets are on sale now for the world premiere production of Fandango for Butterflies (and Coyotes) written by Andrea Thome and directed by José Zayas, with original music by Sinuhé Padilla and choreography by Alexandra Beller. Produced by En Garde Arts (Anne Hamburger, Founder and Artistic Director; Heather Cohen, Executive Director), Fandango for Butterflies (and Coyotes) begins performances on Thursday, February 6, with a press opening of Monday, February 10 at 7 pm, at the historic Ellen Stewart Theatre at La MaMa before touring all five boroughs of New York, ending its run on Saturday, March 28 at the Irondale Center in Brooklyn (see below for full tour schedule).
