The 62nd annual Monterey Jazz Festival wrapped up Sunday, September 29, with fans from across California and the country descending on the Monterey County Fairgrounds for a weekend which featured nearly 130 performances and events. The Festival was filled with many performances that stretched across a wide range of the jazz world and beyond, while maintaining a holistic approach and commitment to showcasing jazz legends and household name musicians alongside newer and emerging artists.

Experimental drummer and innovative live performer JBXDR has released his new single 'Soul Fool ft The Josh Craig' on 27 September via Springstoff. This follows previous single 'Pocketcall' which premiered via Data Transmission. JBXDR has already seen support from Resident Advisor, Clash Magazine, Son Of Marketing, Elicit Magazine and Broadway World, as well as radio support from Amazing Radio. He has worked alongside notable producers such as Andy Baldwin (Hidden Orchestra, Belle & Sebastian), Jeremy Loucas (Spacepilot), Diana Krall (Order Of Canada) and Terry Lynn Carrington (Giovanni Tommaso Quintet). JBXDR has showcased his talent of the stages of Fringe and The Great Escape in Brighton, UK, as well as a string of German festivals including Reeperbahn Festival, Übel und Gefährlich, Hakken, Badehaus, Plötzlich am Meer, At.tension #7, LALA Festival, and Habitat Festival. He was selected by software music sequencer Ableton Live to be featured in collaboration with Mattokind for several live videos and a documentary presented on their site.

Eric Yves Garcia had a great pianist to accompany his singing last night at the Pelican Cafe…..Mr. Garcia himself was on the keys! There is nothing musically more satisfying than the experience of hearing an eloquent and serious pianist creating the arrangements that envelope his vocals. The piano harmonies always integrate more effectively and accurately when the voice and the fingers combine. It's a great club that Mr. Garcia belongs to, Nat King Cole, Buddy Greco, Diana Krall, Bobby Short, BIlly Stritch, Tony DeSare and others. An added treat for last night's patrons was having Avery Sommers and local celebrity Rob Russell in the audience and Mr. Garcia also played effectively for them.
