Purpose has officially recouped its $5.25 million capitalization.  Recoupment was achieved with the aid of the New York State Tax Credit as well as the operating profits from Purpose's Broadway run.

Black Women on Broadway (BWOB) recently held its fifth annual awards celebration, honoring Debra Martin Chase, Whitney White, Alana Raquel Bowers, and Destiny Lilly for their contributions to the theater industry. The event was hosted by BWOB co-founders Danielle Brooks, Amber Iman, and Jocelyn Bioh.

The 41st Annual Lucille Lortel Awards – the  only New York theatre award to exclusively honor Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway – will be presented at the annual ceremony tonight, May 3, 2026, at NYU Skirball beginning at 7:00pm.

National Black Theatre will host its inaugural Spring Luncheon on March 16, 2026, honoring director Whitney White and producer Robyn Coles. The Harlem-based institution is celebrating Black women’s contributions to theatre while advancing its $100 million capital campaign.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will extend its run off-Broadway through April 12, 2026, due to popular demand. The production opens tonight, Monday, November 17, at New World Stages, and celebrated with a gala on Sunday, November 16.

Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening, Tootsie, POTUS) and Jason Kravits (The Drowsy Chaperone, Sly Fox) have joined the cast of the first New York revival of the landmark Tony Award-winning musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Kevin Csolak will take on the role “Bob” in The Outsiders on Broadway starting Friday, September 26, 2025 while original cast member Kevin William Paul takes a leave of absence.

Regions Bank Broadway in Atlanta has announced that single tickets for the Tony Award winning Best Musical, THE OUTSIDERS, based on the seminal novel by S.E. Hinton and Francis Ford Coppola’s landmark motion picture, will go on sale Friday, Sept. 12.

The Outsiders will be recorded at Broadway’s Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre by The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, where it will be added to its Theatre on Film and Tape Archive (TOFT).

Brody Grant, who made his Broadway debut as “Ponyboy Curtis' in The Outsiders, will play his final performance in the production in 10 weeks. Learn more here!
