Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has today announced that four cast members from the 2016 Olivier and Evening Standard Award-winning production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar will be reprising their performances this summer.

Seventeen year old Ben Thomas from Swansea is the 2017 Welsh Musical Theatre Young Singer Of The Year. He was awarded the coveted title by Judges Vivien Care, Claire Hammacott and Michael Morwood after a very high standard contest against Kate McKeown, Lynwen Haf Roberts and Grace-Marie Wyatt - all of whom were accompanied by virtuoso pianist, Jeffrey Howard.

Celebrating 45 years since Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's seminal musical first hit the stage, Jesus Christ Superstar just opened at Regent's Park's Open Air Theatre, and already the production is eying the West End, according to the New York Post's Michael Riedel. He writes: 'I'm told Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice wouldn't mind a Broadway production either.'

With a legendary score which includes I Don't Know How to Love Him, Gethsemane and Superstar, musical direction is by Tom Deering (Wonder.land, In the Heights and The Color Purple), design by Tom Scutt (Constellations, Les Liaisons Dangereuses and King Charles III, for which he has received a Tony Award nomination) and choreography by Drew McOnie (Jekyll & Hyde, The Lorax and In The Heights, for which he won the Olivier Award for Best Theatre Choreography).

Michael Lowe, born in Chepstow and a recent graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, is the 2016 Welsh Young Musical Theatre Singer Of The Year.
