LES MISERABLES at the Sondheim Theatre has announced that booking is now extended until Saturday 2 March 2024.

BroadwayWorld UK had the chance to interview David Thaxton and Jon Robyns, who currently play Javert and Jean Valjean respectively, in the iconic show Les Misérables. On a Zoom meeting from their dressing room, the two actors talked about their years of playing a variety of roles, their struggles with muscle memory, and what Les Mis means to them.

Cameron Mackintosh is delighted to announce new cast members joining the critically acclaimed new production of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre from Tuesday 27 September.

Two terrible twins, Sean and Holly, with a talent for turmoil rule their school with terror and tyranny. That is, until the arrival of a new headteacher with scaly skin, gnarly fangs and a spiky tail… Can the twins save the school from the child-eating troll? Can naughtiness prevail?

Earlier this month, we marked the 91st birthday of the living legend that is Stephen Sondheim with a look back at five London productions of his work that are embedded in my memory. This week, we honour a quintet of performances that has achieved the same result, even if this has meant choosing from an astonishing array of riches that could populate a column like this ten times over. In any case, here are just a few of the Sondheim star turns that linger in the mind.

Set under the northern lights and featuring live illusions, the show explores the extraordinary world of a sorcerer and his rebellious daughter as she discovers the explosive possibilities of her newfound magical powers.

'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' was filmed live with multiple cameras at Southwark Playhouse in February 2021 after its planned season was cancelled due to lockdown restrictions.

Last week, we acknowledged the forthcoming birthday of Andrew Lloyd Webber via a look back at five defining London stagings of his work. This time, we offer the same tribute to Stephen Sondheim, with whom Lloyd Webber, 18 years Sondheim's junior, shares a birthdate of March 22: on that day, the great man turns 91.
