New Rep Announces Post-Performance Talkbacks for CHERRY DOCS

New Repertory Theatre, in residence at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, is thrilled to announce it will be holding post-performance talkbacks after select performances of Cherry Docs with keynote speakers, such as Davalene Cooper, a professor of law at New England Law, Boston; Barbara Wallace Grossman, a Professor of Drama at Tufts University, theater historian, and director; Peter B. Krupp, a prominent Criminal Defense Lawyer and founding partner of Lurie & Krupp, LLP; Jason Owens, a Substance Abuse Counselor and Court Advocate at ROCA in Chelsea; and Elyse Rast, Holocaust Programs Coordinator and Educator, Jewish Community Relations Council, to complement this powerful production.

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, Julie Taymor is at the helm of a new film adaptation of THE TEMPEST, to be released this December. The film was shot in Hawaii with stars Helen Mirren (Prospera), Alfred Molina (Stephano), Ben Whishaw (Ariel), Felicity Jones (Miranda), Russell Brand (Trinculo), Djimon Hounsou (Caliban), Alan Cumming (Sebastian), Chris Cooper (Antonio), and David Strathairn (Alonso).
The New York Times reports today that the film will in fact be the main attraction at this year's New York Film Festival, presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center in October. The film will get a special screening on October 2, 2010 at Alice Tully Hall.

The New York Film Festival has announced that this year's festival will open with 'The Social Network,' written by Aaron Sorkin (THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION, A FEW GOOD MEN) and directed by David Fincher. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake. 'The Social Network' focuses on Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook.

Cherry Docs opens for the press on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 7:30pm and plays through Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in the Charles Mosesian Theater.

New York's Hudson Stage Presents 'Divas on Hudson' Gala on 7/24

On July 24, the Hudson Stage Company of Croton on Hudson, New York, will host its annual gala fundraiser, 'Divas on Hudson.' The event will be hosted on a Hudson River property in Montrose. It will be tented rain or shine and will have seating available, in addition to expansive grounds for picnicking. The evening will feature a sunset concert with Broadway singers, a silent auction, wine and cheese, dessert, coffee and the view. Performers at past events have included Audra McDonald, Ann Hampton Callaway, Lauren Kennedy, Liz Callaway, Barbara Walsh, and Shoshana Bean.
