This summer Broadway World went on the road to catch some amazing entertainment, and one of the stops was at the Santa Fe Playhouse.

Santa Fe Playhouse (SFP) has announced that Robyn Rikoon is stepping down as its Artistic Director after a three-and-a-half-year tenure leading the regional theatre and advancing its legacy of artistic excellence. Rikoon will leave her role at SFP at the end of this month to pursue her career as an independent theatre and filmmaker.

Santa Fe Playhouse (SFP) is currently in rehearsals for the Tony Award-winning Edwardian-style murderous musical farce, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and is thrilled to share a first-look into their sing-thru rehearsal. With a book by Robert L. Freedman, music by Steven Lutvak, and lyrics by Freedman and Lutvak. The production is directed by Rebecca Aparicio. See photos from inside rehearsal.

Frog and Toad are the amphibious best buddies from Arnold Lobel’s well-loved children’s books. The pair takes to the stage in A Year with Frog and Toad, with music by Robert Reale, and book and lyrics by Willie Reale, opening at Santa Fe Playhouse at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022. Following successful productions in Belgrade, Dublin and New York City, Different Translation is pleased to announce The Baby Monitor, a crucial new play exploring same-sex parenting, surrogacy, race, family values, and the repercussions of making assumptions, will be presented in Italy as part of the second edition of the OnStage! Festival.

The festival will be presented on Governors Island multiple times each day from 11:30 am-4:30 pm. The festival will perform at various places across the island, using the local environments and sounds of the park.

The International Shakespeare Center presents Pivotal Relationships in Shakespeare: Macbeth and Lady Macbeth; a close examination, discussion and demonstration about the intricacies of the central relationship in the Scottish play with a diverse group of actors and directors who have examined the relationship in production. 

Founding Artistic Director Akia Squitieri announced today that Rising Sun Performance Company will be presenting a rotation of children’s plays to be performed in person outdoors on Governors Island for two days August 21st & 22nd.
